Good coffee, great food – tasty creative attractive dishes. Friendly staff albeit service was quite slow with ~20 customers, the food was worth the 40min wait. The atmosphere is fairly casual but fairly noisy, with hard finishes all around – if they added some folding doors along the front they could open the whole caf up to the lovely secluded landscaped laneway – could be awesome.

Best steak sandwich in the southeast! Pretty good pasta too, and great coffee. Service is always excellent and super friendly. Everything I’ve had there has been of good quality.

Amazing food, always get the brekky roll when I go. raspberry and white chocolate muffins are very good and also the lemon tart is a favourite! The sandwiches are also amazing. Staff are very friendly and the service is quick 10/10

Consistently Average. This has been a cafe I go to when I want a change, or others in the area a too busy, and because I always ‘want’ it to be better than it is, to add viable variety to the area. However ‘hoping’ doesn’t make it so, and I’m at the point where I sadly may give up. In fact I am little perplexed by the rating (admittedly I spend a lot of time in the city, and am spoilt for quality), the interior is very dated inside and it’s not a pleasant place to sit. Outside is a much better option if weather permits. They do fine sandwiches and cakes, but skip breakfast / brunch options, as they are poor and I’ve even had to send dishes back in the past. (given up on these completely now). Coffee is drinkable, but not great, usually too hot, not strong enough, and little attention is paid to the milk consistency. Most of the staff are friendly (and I think this is also why I really want it to be good!) and they certainly appeal to the ‘mature’ clientele of the area who seem to be a staple demographic. It’s a real shame that the breakfast / brunch and coffee isn’t of a better standard. It feels like a wasted opportunity 🙁

Believe it or not it was tea leaves.. I have been going to truly scrumptious for many years (when Devonshire Tea was $2 off peak) and have always found food to be excellent, staff attentive BUT the pot of tea has real tea leaves, a side pot of hot water and side jug of milk. A revelation in the world of floor sweepings in tea bags. The Devonshire tea is till top notch with choice of scones(Date, fruit or plain ). Meals are always fresh with best ingredients and focacias or toasted sangers are the best. Can be noisy inside but plenty of seating weather permitting outside. An icon in Mentone.
