Had a family catch up dinner over the Christmas period as half of us live in Melbourne and thought we’d give one of our old fav restaurants a go and let me tell you I wouldn’t go back there even if you paid me. Besides the food being soggy and tasteless the staff were rude and unprofessional. We asked if we could order a drink and the first waitress told us no you can’t you have to go the the bar and pay there. What is this a pub? Are we not dining at a restaurant? Offer to start a tab on our table or at least learn some manners. To top the night off another waitress who was hovering and reaching over top of us to clear our plates when half of the table was still eating, dropped some of the cutlery on me and ruined the back of my dress with pasta sauce. She did not even acknowledge her fault and she just walked away, I was stunned! How is this girl a waitress? The original waitress that was at our table from the beginning came over for coffee orders so I ordered a coffee and explained to her what had happened to my dress and her response was “oh no I will go and get this resolved for you” it’s actually laughable now because she never came back to the table and resolved my issue. No offer for free coffee or my dry cleaning just hide and never show your face again. So if you love bad wait staff and soggy tasteless food plus on your clothes come to pizza cafe at the grand, if you want a real pizza the only place in Mildura I rate is Angies in Irymple.
Standard italian fare, we ordered two pizza’s, hit and miss. The hit was the Deli pizza with loads of flavour from the salami, mozzarella, semi sun dried tomatoes and olives (though very heavy handed with the olives) and the miss was the meat delight, it lacked something and very boring. The cafe salad was really nice and i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Heatwave in Mildura and this cheerful pizza restaurant is buzzing. We had no booking but were promptly squeezed into the thankfully air conditioned overflow annex. Waitstaff were efficient and remained lovely in the rush hour we experienced at dinner time. We were glad to share a large half-half, the ingredients fresh and light yet cheesy enough to enjoy on a hot evening. Loved the shaker of chilli flakes (amongst other condiments) ready to hand on each table! Bonus is the location – close to the river for a cool and scenic evening stroll.
Located in the heart of Mildura’s central district, the pizza here is quite good, with a variety of gourmet offerings to choose from. The service they provide is always excellent. The water tasted a little odd however – just regular Mildura tap it seems.
