Pricey!!! Too pricey!. We decided to get takeaway from The Sambal on a recent holiday in Mildura. We ordered 1 serve of spring rolls, 1 fried rice, 1 sweet and sour chicken, 1 mixed veg, 1 beef and black bean and some prawn crackers. When I ordered I wasn’t given the price but a similar amount of food in Melbourne is around $60 (usually less) for generous sized portions so this was what I expected to pay. I fell over when I went to pick it up and it was more than $80!!!! It was very nice. But it was wayyyyy overpriced considering the portion sizes. We worked out that the prawn crackers were more than 25 cents each..the bag was only half full! I was also disgusted to pay nearly $20 for a small serve of mixed vegetables. If we weren’t hungry and it wasn’t so late I would have refused to pay those prices.Perhaps that is what you need to pay for Chinese takeaway in Mildura but at those prices they wouldn’t last 5 minutes in Melbourne. Next time we will skip a Chinese takeaway and wait until we get home instead.

Authentic Menu in Mildura. Entree: satay chicken, deep fried and satay sauce need to improve. Sang chow bow – more like minced chicken meat. Need to improve.Main: Beef rendang, good and tasty and authentic. Sambal calamari – big disappointment! Price $26+ and full of onions and very little calamari. Cost of this dish around $4 and considering using frozen, should be a bit more generous.Roti – too flaky and size too small. Understand it is from frozen pack, thus need to improve.Overall, not bad but cannot say about other authentic dishes execution. Please improve and would come back.
