Salt and pepper escargot with aioli was yummy! and the bush herb was divine too!escargot with black truffle was okay but quite pricey considering the portion.and the prawn in garlic butter was okay.i suggest to try their different type of escargot dishes which was superb.and their service was immaculate too!the lady ( owner ) was so friendly and accommodating, and the husband was patiently explaining everything that we asked when we went to the snail farm.will definitely go back.
Apart for the escargot don’t even bother. Gnocchi was as hard as bricks and almost nothing appeared fresh. I suspect even the chips where from a frozen packet even though there is a potato grower up the road.
Great place run by a lovely couple. Everything was great. The hosts are so friendly and helpful with tips for the area.I would highly recommend the accommodation.
I’m still drooling!. My husband and I wondered what on earth we had driven up to when we parked in the middle of a cow paddock and entered this unpretentious place, but we were blown away by the food! Salt and Pepper snails that were so good we ordered another serve, followed by snails in a truffle sauce that were absolutely memorable. We didn’t make it to the mains, but we will next time!
SOMETHING DIFFERENT & YUMMY!. I went there today with a party of 4 (one person is the fussiest eater on earth). Wow, what a surprise! The food was lovely, wait staff were knowledgeable of the menu and the hosts were happy and willing to share their knowledge about their produce as well as the local area. We shared some escargot as an entree,(why would you not?), but then ventured into the mediterranean menu – chicken roulade, chorizo kebabs, cubed chicken and meatballs+ a couple of vegetable sides to share (recommended by Bridie). The wait staff were very well informed with quantities and tastes catered for, making the meal both enjoyable and adequate for 4 people. It’s really nice when you’re not left wondering whether you’ve ordered too much or not enough, but that was not the case here. Our lovely waitress was extremely attentive and helped us immensely with quantities etc. We finished off with with some delectable desserts and fabulous tea/coffee which rounded off a lovely afernoon. I would recommend this to anyone wanting something a little different. Mirboo North is a fabulous little town with so much to offer. Vinnie and Doug can pick you and up from your accommodation in town if you need be which is something you just don’t get offered in town. There’s so much to see bur, really, you shouldn’t go past Cafe Escargot- let me know and I’ll find any excuse to meet you there!
