The Margherita pizza is meant to be a hallmark of a true Italian pizzeria, but Mamma Francas’ version of it was lacking in one of the crucial elements: generous blobs of fresh mozzarella cheese – I could barely see or taste any cheese. Compare photos of 400 Gradi’s award-winning rendition of a Margherita, and you’ll see what I mean. Indeed, all the toppings were very sparse overall. It also arrived lukewarm, unlike other pizzas I’ve ordered through restaurants located much further from my home (Mama Francas is only 5 min away). They earned a star, however, for the quality of the ingredients, particularly the perfect tomato sauce. With all the hype and prices to match, Mama Francas has not lived up to it, which is clear from reading other reviews as well. Despite this, I wanted to give them a chance, but this experience means I will not be returning.
