Who is Mamma Franca we hear you ask? She is an incredible woman and the Mamma of Marie, one of our owners. Franca was born in a small town in the metropolitan city of Catania, on the island of Sicily, called Vizzini. The eldest of 2 children, Franca travelled to Australia in 1950 together with her beautiful parents Luigi and Maria. Francas passion for food was discovered and fostered at an early age by her Nonna and her mother. By age of 6, she was already food prepping, and by age 8, Franca was preparing meals for the family. Today, Mamma Franca loves cooking for her granddaughters and of course giving us a gentle (or not so gentle) hand with the menus and cooking styles. Her secret to all this delicious food? Its all in the aroma only the aroma can tell you when the dish is ready to eat. If you see Franca around, be sure to say a big hello.
