Admiral Arkle is a new pub that has recently opened in Mornington, where Soy used to be. On this day it was a warm (but windy) day. There was only one waitress working there and the venue wasnt too busy. We were asked to take a seat outside so we werent given the option to sit inside and I noticed throughout the whole time I ate there everyone ate outside. It was a bit difficult since it was a bit windy but sitting on the balcony is lovely. The outdoor seats are uncomfortable so we grabbed the indoor seats to sit in (we copied a couple that did this first). They should really have better seating outside.
The food in my opinion is quite expensive for what you get…. my mum ordered the mushroom pasta special however the chef/waitress instead cooked up the seafood pasta. I immediately informed the waitress it wasnt what we had ordered. The seafood pasta is an extra $7, if it had been the same price I would have kept it. But if someone has dietary requirements its not good for the order to be mixed up like this. By this time they had closed the kitchen so they had to reopen the kitchen to make the mushroom pasta dish which I appreciated. By the time we received the pasta dish I had finished eating my mussels. The waitress gave my mum a free drink (my mum picked a coke but wine was an option given). I am glad that they tried to make up for their error.
The mussels were nice but nothing too special, and my mum felt bored with her pasta. She wanted more flavour.
I think this venue has the potential to be a popular drinking venue in Mornington and once teething issues are resolved then it would be a nice place to eat during summer. Unfortunately I think the prices are expensive compared to other eateries in the area. Cant really justify paying over $20 for these dishes.
