Fantastic Indian food in Mornington with some vegan options available. Chutney Bar is smart – it has traditional Indian dishes but also an Indian inspired brunch menu so theres something for everyone.
Waitress was lovely!
The vegan coconut madras was great! Loved the coconut rice as well, would have loved if garlic naan was on the menu instead of just plain naan.
Really enjoyed the food and service at this new restaurant. The cauliflower salad was a hit with my wife and daughter and I enjoyed the lamb vindaloo with naan bread. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is pleasant. Looking forward to going back.
Unfortunately this was a disappointing experience. I dont understand why front of house is seen as a job for the inexperienced or teenagers looking for some spare cash over the holidays. You cannot underestimate the importance of experienced front of house staff. Our waitress had to defer each time we asked a question about the menu or the ingredients; or the wine list. We only managed to order drinks because I had to catch the waitresses attention myself; the food itself is overpriced for what we received; curries often had 3 to 4 pieces of meat – nan bread was dry and flavorless – – and empty plates were left on the table long after wed finished. I wish them every success – however the owners are going to have to decide whats more important; a well run restaurant that offers its customers a dining experience that is worth coming back for or the empty fulfillment of near enough is good enough, sadly there is to much competition for the latter.
