A rather impromptu choice to come to this restaurant, but with absolutely no regrets. The Restaurant: – Unassuming, pub-appearance exterior – Beautiful and classy interior – Great outdoor seating near the Mornington park/pier- Displays of fresh cuts of beef and ingredients – shows they aren’t shy of quality inspection!Service: (9/10) – STELLAR – attentive, considerate, and helpful wait-staff. Food: (9/10)- All dishes exceeded our expectations, and the descriptions of each item on the menu> Calamari w/ Zuchinni, radish, cucumber salad & Celeriac Cream:The calamari was so delicately fried & crumbed – not your average calamari. Beautiful vegetable accompaniment – fresh, and unique. > Weekly Special Pan-fried Barramundi w/ a Salad of orange, candied almonds & whipped feta: The fish was some of the best I’ve eaten in a while; crisp skin w/ tender & moist flesh. The flavours of the salad married together in such a unique manner, and was OH so good. > Steak w/ Porcini-Truffle sauce: (forgot which cut we got!) The meat was cooked to med-rare perfection, and the sauce was more watery than what you expect – but still so flavourful and paired so well with the meat. Absolutely delicious!
2.5Down on the peninsula and this place at the end of the street looks nice. They have a $20 lunch special. I had the falafel and my girlfriend got the calamari. Both were mini sized. I know it’s a special, but it wasn’t enough to feed an adult. The calamari was tasteless and kind of limp. I had three baby falafel on a bed of chickpeas and hummus. This included a pot of beer or wine. Nice place for a drink!
Fantastic cozy place on the Esplanade. We came here on a rainy Sunday night and it was the perfect venue for some great old fashioned well cooked steaks. We shared the meatballs as an entree which were hearty and spicy, a perfect start with a lovely glass of Shiraz. We both had the scotch fillet which was perfectly seasoned and paired with the mushroom sauce, which I must say has to be one of the best I’ve tasted. Finished off the meal with the Key Lime pie which was absolutely perfect (very sour which I Love). We will definitely be back!
