Great selection on the menu, the food was all reasonably tasty. The sashimi platter and spring rolls were enjoyable, the chicken don I thoroughly enjoyed although the sauce was missing something. The service from the young girl was good but the service from the restaurant owners?/colleagues was abrupt.

I dont rate restaurants very often, (I don’t have time, but i’ve made the time for this place)…, this place deserves to be heard about and get great feedback to make sure it stays on Main St Mornington. Its not the only Japanese joint in town, but definitely the best. If your looking for high class, fine dinning, this is the wrong place for you, but if your looking for quality, authentic, the best japanese food on the Peninsula, well, i don’t think you can pass on this place. We’ll be back, regularly.

Visited Sakura today for a birthday lunch with my partner and was not disappointed. We ordered the sashimi, soft shell crab maki and the tatsuta age don and were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is simple and the price is very reasonable. Our meal was fresh and full of flavour! We had been visiting kazu for our Japanese food fix but I just think we found a new favourite here.

Not many sushi options in Mornington (or the peninsula). OK sushi but not the best sushi. Does the job but could be fresher and a bit more variety.

Not excellent. Cheap and fairly quick. Had no idea what Umeshu was. Tatsu age was chicken balls with cheese inside: not authentic. Beef tataki was bland and couldn’t finish even half of it. My Salmon and rice was lovely and a generous amount of Salmon for $13. Seems to be popular for local workers grabbing a quick lunch.

Want to have some light lunch meals, pop into Sakura sushi, small little shopfront, but sushi and meals are quite fresh and nice! Would recommend to friends who visit Mornington peninsula wants quick fresh Japanese lunch! Nice little hidden gem! Plus don’t know why, it’s quite cheap here, should be $ or $$ rather than $$$

Lovely staff and beautiful & reasonably priced Japanese food. Definitely check it out if you’re in Mornington. Would recommend the Katsu Don.
