Great restaurant, friendly staff excellent Chinese food and no msg reasonably priced. Had the Sang Choi bow, sweet corn soup, chick and vegetables, tofu and vegetarian fried rice. This is the go to place for Chinese in Mornington. Please visit and support as the peninsular needs good food options.

Dinner here wasn’t good but wasn’t bad. The menu feels tired and needs livening up, although everything was done well it feels like a menu that’s had very little revitalisation since mid 2000s.

May just be a one off but their timing needs working on, Saturday night 8pm not overly busy, a number of free tables around us. We order and our entrees came out as expected however our mains took forever. In that time period we’ve watched the waiters doing laps looking for something to do, yet not once did they stop to check on us or ask if we’d like our wine refilled or even offer us water.

If it hadn’t been for my partners patience I would’ve walked out on the bill, waiting an hour between entree and a main of fried rice and honey chicken is not acceptable in my book.

Being an older restaurant in Mornington with a lot of new, hot, and trendy competition opening up around them they certainly need to up their game. Although this may have been why we were able to walk straight in when D.O.C, Mi Mexico had hour waits for a table, and even YOMG had a line out the door.

    Note:
If the food was quicker or I had have been interrupted at any by a waiter I would’ve had less time to write this less than stellar essay.

Great experience and food have been here twice and the food is always magnificent. Only criticism is that the food was a bit slow to come out with the banquet option during a busy period. Other than that will come back!

A table for 6. Diners ranged from 80 to 13 years. Main meal was Peking Duck and Mongolian Beef. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. We were quite disappointed in the bottle of red wine that we ordered so made mention to the waitress. She returned with the wine list and invited us to select another; we were very appreciative. Well recommended.

A girlfriend and I came here Saturday night, spur of the moment. we had no booking. The staff that greeted us were lovely and welcoming and found us a table straight away. We were seated on the balcony outside and had perfect views.
We ordered some soup and prawn & pork dim sims for entree and shared the half duck san choy bow and peaking duck pancakes for main. It as all superb! Bloody delicious. The pieces of duck in the pancakes were so generous and everything was just amazingly yummy! We could not fault anything. Will definitely be back there again and would recommend to everyone. I also was impressed as it was a very busy night and we were still attended to promptly and our food came out quickly too.
Food, Service, Staff, Atmosphere & prices all 10/10. Thanks Guys! looking forward to our next visit xx

I must have been to Soy about 200 times over the last 5 years and I’ve never had a bad meal. In fact, the food is stunning for the price. Obviously I’ve got to know the staff and they treat me like royalty. It’s a beautiful upstairs venue and if I could rate it higher than 5 I would! John C

Don’t bother with this place. We visited for the yum Cha menu and were extremely disappointed. The service was quite poor, although it was a busy night, there was adequate staff on but they were very slow and not managed well- we waited a very long time before our order was taken. The only positive about this place is the interior of the restaurant- it was very upbeat and funky.
The food here was a huge let down. The dim sims had a horrible texture to them and it actually tasted and felt like we were eating dirt (yes, dirt). The flavours were very strange for western Chinese and we found this place to be grossly overpriced for what we received.
