Having been to Thailand, we decided to try some local Thai restaurants to see if we could relive the great tastes that we’d previously experienced.
I was particularly keen to give the fish cakes a go – in Kho Samui, they were lightly crumbed, with a kind of melt-in-your-mouth blend of fish, coconut, spices etc (delicious!). Unfortunately, the fish cakes presented to me looked like the kind of burgers my mother served me all those years ago ie rubbery, heavy, and quite tasteless – very disappointed!
HOWEVER, I have to point out that I didn’t try any other of the starters.
The main course on the other hand was the complete opposite – we had a red and a green curry. My red curry was tasty, and all the flavours were there – coconut, Thai basil, chilli, etc. Well worth the visit just for the curries!
Another dish I’d loved in Thailand is the sticky rice with mango, so I decided to give that a go too. I might be a bit harsh here, but I believe that the mango wasn’t fresh ie frozen or, worse still, tinned! At 2 for 5 bucks in Coles, there’s no excuse for not using fresh. Still, it was tasty enough.
All up, I’d rate the experience at 7 out of 10 – perhaps stay clear of the fish cakes.
Amazing Service & Food. We had dinner here mid week. The service was friendly and helpful and the food was so fresh and yummy. It was some of the best Thai we have ever had! We throughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend to anyone.
Delightful dinner. We had dinner with some friends here Saturday night for the first time and wow we will be back.
Just fresh, very well priced and friendly.
No extra charge for byo wine. PERFECT!
We absolutely loved our experience and will be back.
Absolutely appalling. Greasy food, rude service and high prices all combine to make this a terrible choice. Avoid like the plague. Can’t even imagine what the people who like this joint are thinking.
Best Thai outside of Thailand ! Super friendly & courteous staff & cheap ($1) corkage pp! Love it
Not impressed!! I found the food rather boring and bland. Not quite sure wot fish the fish cakes were made of. Not somewhere I’ll be returning too or recommending!
Great place Thai on the Peninsula. Went with some friends on a Saturday night having had takeaway once before and found it delish.
All our meals were great, they dealt easily with one of our diners allergy issues, spaced the meals out and left us alone to enjoy our night, we never felt rushed. Wasnt expensive and being BYO wine helps with a budget. Great flavours and great service
