I have been to Beatrix numerous times and I must say, sometimes their cakes are a bit on the drier side, but their sandwiches are always always amazing.
This time I dropped by for cakes cos my gf likes their cake and today it was amazing. The chiffon was so light but moist, the peach cheesecake was so light as well and tasted beautiful. The pistachio and lemon cake has a melt in your mouth goodness and the doughnuts were pretty good too.
They give you the best service- they even took the cakes to my car as they see that I have got my two toddlers with me.
Needless to say I will be back and people shLd go out of their way to visit here!

I love the concept of Beatrix just a small team busting out quality classic cakes in a small & lovely caf, tucked up in a corner of North Melb.Depending on your arrival time, be prepared to queue as there is limited seating. Also be prepared for some cakes to be sold out if youre arriving later in the afternoon!
We ordered a selection of cakes:Red velvet incredibly moist, slightly dense but with a soft crumb, the layers with white chocolate cream cheese buttercream is just thick enough to give a sweet balance.Chocolate sour cream similar base recipe to the red velvet layer cake, this version is deliciously chocolatey. Love the freeze dried raspberries crumbled on top, provides a pop of tartness.Vanilla cheesecake nicely thick and not overly sweet, the crumb base isnt rock hard and can be tackled with a fork.
They also do normal food and for lunch, I had a ham & spinach ciabatta, which was quite fresh and the spinach was dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette.
If I were to complain, it would be that its a taaad on the pricey side, but I dont mind as its an independently run business, and the cakes were very satisfying.
Coming here has been a weekly thing since I finally tried it. The cakes are heavenly and not horribly sweet at all. Definitely a Melbourne must try
One of the best cakes in town. There are no other words, the queues and the cakes will talk for itself.
Queues are long on the weekend, but worth the wait and relatively moves pretty fast too.
Amazing cake!! So light, fluffy and delicious. We tried the red velvet and a mandarin chiffon. Both tasted like they were made with great quality butter, and had so much flavour. It is such a cute small, light filled space with lovely helpful staff. Cant wait to go back and try some more cakes: it was hard not to buy them all- they all looked so good.

Ordered coffee, tea and cake. 30 mins later, We were asked to pay the bill and leave our table even though we havent finished our cake. I asked if they allow me to spend 5 mins to finish something on hand however the staff /owner insisted it and ask if wed like to take away our leftover cake or not. Such an Embarrassing experience and Will not come back.
I had very high hopes for this place since I heard such great reviews, but it was nothing amazing at all. The service on the day was very disappointing- one particular worker really gave a bad impression of her team by her mannerism and attitude. The cakes themselves are not worth the price. For $8/9 a slice, youd think theyd be melt in your mouth/moist pieces with fresh ingredients. Instead, the pistachios were stale, and the cake quite dry. Boxed cake mix taste better. The hot chocolate had a very unusual taste to it, too. I wouldnt bother going out of your way to try this place because the experience didnt leave a good taste in my mouth.
