Smoked salmon mixed with avocado. I prefer to have 2 separating things.
Goat’s cheese cream is plain.
The whole dish is lower than average.
I came here just because the chief of T&S was late and I was in a hurry
Went for breakfast this morning. Order was very simple: croissant, fruit toast, butter, jam, 1 piccolo and 1 tea. Tea and coffee came out within 5 minutes so all good. Then unheated croissant came out after 10 minutes. Then it was a full 20 minutes before we had to go inside and ask what happened to cutlery, fruit toast, jam, butter? They had forgotten and meanwhile coffee and tea were cold. After 30 minutes we got all we ordered but consumed with cold tea and coffee. For $20 this was really unacceptable!!! Will not go there again. The service people are very nice but they lack any business model, any understanding of what is acceptable/unacceptable, and any understanding of how to remedy a poor situation
I’ve been coming here for years as a North Melbourne Local and finally decided to write a review after visiting recently. I had intended on visiting a cafe up the road who was completely full so came to Elceed (who were empty at the time). Although the Menu is unchanged from the original owners – the food itself has continually declined.
We ordered a Mushroom Bruschetta which came with hardly a drizzle of olive tapenade and goat’s cheese that was almost non existent. The bread was two tiny slices and the prosciutto was 1 measly piece – this used to be my favourite dish, but it used to be served with 4-5 slices of prosciutto, a generous amount of tapenade and goats cheese.
The baby chino was just warm milk with a dusting of chocolate – impossible for a toddler to drink/eat… it needs FROTH people, and ideally only froth.
The eggs and bacon came with horribly undercooked bacon – and only 1 rasher.
Considering both meals were close to $20 each (the menus on here are outdated) – it seems as though they have increased the prices, decreased the quality and quantity of the food.
It’s so upsetting because the actual cafe and courtyard are gorgeous, the coffee isn’t terrible and it’s local to me, however I just can’t keep giving it chances. I don’t think we’ll be returning any time soon unless the menu and food gets a significant overhaul.
Elceed has this old rustic cafe atmosphere in a quieter place at North Melbourne. The waiter staff is friendly and apologetic enough that misunderstood dishes we ordered even though we asked what is recommended. Like the latte that looks like flat white because they split a few foam.
We ordered:
Smoked Salamon – 3/5
Light and delicious, somehow lacks some flavour
Corn Fritters – 3/5
Little bit heavy and delicious, missing prosciutto, mushroom or bacon. Free poached egg is a bonus.
Grilled Chicken Burger – 2.5/5
Light and delicious burger, missing fries to complete the burger meal. Why is there a wooden board with so much space?
Overall, I enjoy this rustic cafe atmosphere. Not sure i can remember the dishes, but I’ll have a latte on a weekend afternoon.
Good place for a nice brunch. The food is good. I tried the fritters and loved it. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Order a cup of babycino if you have a child with you. It’s nice and insta-worthy. The lighting in the shop is nice too with sunlight streaming in, making for good photos.
Elceed is located at the quieter side of north melbourne. Small rustic cafe. It was quiet on early Saturday morning with a few people waiting for coffee takeaway. The wait staff are friendly but clearly they are understaffed as we waited about almost half an hour for our coffee to arrive. Good coffee though. We ordered the Chefs special which was the cheddar & spring onion scrambled eggs with hummus filled avocado and almond croissant to share. Food was good but a tad expensive for what it was. $6 for almond croissant and $18 for eggs and avocado.
Service was quick and friendly. Didn’t have to wait long for the food to come out however it wasn’t particularly busy. The coffee was really good, quite creamy how I like it. Got the smashed avo with a poached egg. Flavours were all on point and not overly rich or salty. Chunks of avo was nice too. Egg was well poached. Would come here again.
