Mid week lunch. Quiche was good. Cakes looked amazing, would love to come back for the cakes! Hot chocolate presentation was impressive. The extra chocolate on the side was a nice surprise.
It’s a bit bold for them to use French in their cafe name as the food especially the croissants didn’t live up to French pastries standards. The coffee was mediocre and tasted a bit burnt for me. There are many other local cafes nearby at North Melbourne so I won’t return to the French Quarter anytime soon
The French Quarter was the nearest place to eat while I was out for lunch during my first aid training. Selection of food includes croissants, baguettes and desserts. I decided to try the Turkey, Cranberry and Brie Baguette. It was okay. I found that there wasn’t enough Brie in the baguette which was a shame… And usually I’m complaining about too much cheese so there definitely wasn’t enough cheese in the baguette haha.
If I was in North Melbourne again I would definitely try the desserts but wouldn’t have another baguette.
Brioches are pretty good, as are the almond croissants. Cheesecakes are also a favourite, but brownies there are on the bland side. The orange cake is a nice combination of sweetness followed by a slight tart flavour. Overall ok and slightly above average cafe.Should be wary of selling previous day’s goods though.
Their brioches are very good, the croissants not bad because they have high turnover they are guaranteed to be fresh. Unfortunately they still keep and sell at least day old brownies and others lieutenant as the chocolate eclair was half frozen and the brownie very very dry- not good policy here.
Love love love their almond croissant. Best I’ve tasted. Generous filling and topping of almond flakes. Not to be missed if you are in the area. Despite take away, it was still perfect, be sure to ask them to heat it up.
