Twenty & Six is a house-to-cafe conversion a short
meander away from the main strip in North Melbourne. The menu has a fairly
English feel about it (although the fare is a cut above what youd get at a
corner greasy spoon, that is for sure). It also changes seasonally apparently
which is nice for the locals. Service was with a smile by both staff – never
gets old. The interior was cosy but modern and the courtyard seating out the
back would be really pleasant on a balmy day. Service was with a smile and very
lovely and prompt
We started with a Short Black and Matcha Latte with Soy Milk.
Without a doubt, the Matcha Latte was one of the best Ive had around Melbourne.
Plus it was huge check out my images. My partner in crimes Short Black had
good crema and was decent. Our food was The Benedict and The Pork Sandwich. The
Benedict was of a decent size and quality with lots of ham that was shredded. My
partner found the sandwich delicious but as he was hungry a tad on the small
side. I had big food envy on the chilli eggs which I saw getting served up!
Might go back for a second time and try this dish. Another successful
experiment with a reasonably happy ending but I must say I was expecting a
little more from the food, flavours and presentation considering the rating.
Twenty and six is like a Tony Bianco shoe box in a totally good way! Its small but its contents make you smile. I ordered the brioche French toast with lemon curd, raspberry coulis, poached apple and ice cream. Simple yet delicious!
Ive tasted a lot of failed lemon curds and this was not one of them. It was creamy and had the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The coulis was also a success and married well with the other elements on the plate.
Mum had the Eggs Benedict with smoked ham. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the ham was different from the traditional sliced ham you get from most cafes.
I rarely ever talk about drinks but the coffees deserve a mention! They werent too strong nor too weak but the perfect in between.
The wait is a little bit long for a 1:30pm meal, but the haloumi sandwich with fried egg is well worth the wait. Everything goes so well together, the beetroot relish, the gooey egg, the halloumi cheese, the smashed avo… yum yum

Cool little cafe located in north Melbourne. Has plenty of seating indoor and out in their court yard so great for summer.
Great tasting coffee and food, sampled the simply smashed which is a current special. Great value for money ($10 between 7:30-10:30) only knock was it was a touch spicy.
Good food and service
This caf didnt seem much from the outside but the moment you walk inside it feels very comfortable
The front part of the caf was busy so we headed to the rear courtyard which takes you via the kitchen/food preparation area.
The courtyard was a nice place to sit and have lunch although Im not sure Id want to sit on a table located next door to the outside loo. It would have been great to have a bit of music in the background to take the edge of the conversations going around us.
The service was very friendly and attentive.
I ordered the French toast and my partner ordered poached eggs on toast. The food arrived quickly despite the place being quite busy.
The French toast was a heap of sweetness. It was very yummy but about half way through I was craving a bit of relief from the sugar.
The poached eggs on toast was well cooked and the toast was generous and good quality.
The coffee was well made and not too weak and the orange juice was lovely and squeezed on site.
There are lots of things that appealed to me on the menu so Ill definitely be back to try them.
Food 3.5* above average
Coffee 3.5* well made and not too weak.
Service 3.5* very friendly and attentive
Ambience 3.0* a lovely courtyard but not sure about the outside loo being next to tables.
Good breakfast and cappuccino. I had the grilled halloumi toast and it was delicious. Next time I’ll ask to have the bread toasted without butter.
Crispy pork belly with sriracha aioli and cucumber slaw with steamed bun. There were a lot of fillings and sauce so I placed them inside the bun – the flavours were awesome! Loved it!
