A cafe worthy of a detour.
Simple but nice interior, with friendly accommodating staffs and most importantly a good menu well executed.
Breakfast ramen: amazing flavour and filled with such substantial ingredients making it superior than most ramen from Melbournes jap cafes. The kaiserfleisch in it was divine.
Bean, bacon and fontina jaffle: such a tasty little snack. The cheese along with everything was beautiful and the side of chicken I was able to add gave it more protein punch. Tasty.
Beautiful chai and although a coffee drinker, I havent got to trying the coffee.
More on the menu that will bring me back. The choc chai pudding sounds lovely and it I could add a side of chicken to that, itd be perfect.

    Nice layout.
Only two veganisable options on the menu (Not Including drinks) – avo toast or chia pudding.
I chose the chocolate chia pudding with fruit and luckily it was really tasty and a decent portion.
I also had the green smoothie which was a bit icy but still good.
In the cabinet there was two vegan sweets – a blueberry lemon cake which my kids had a a gf snickers ball which I had.

A stunning new cafe in the heart of Northcote! The interior was modern, funky and very aesthetically pleasing! The waiter was very friendly and accommodating as he moved us to a 4 seater from a communal table as soon as one was available. The cold filtered coffee was perfect as was the fresh juice. I ordered the Californian super salad which was beautiful, it just needed a wedge of lime to be perfect! I also added a poached egg to it which was poached perfectly

I highly recommend the sweet potato fritters with slow cooked pork. Fritters had an excellent textural crunch to them and the pork was very tender! The serving was generous as it included Asian greens and dehydrated pork crackling.

We also ordered scrambled eggs with halloumi. The halloumi was a generous, tasty serve and the croquet (hash brown) was perfectly cooked!

The crumpets were so plump and think, a group favourite! I loved the mascarpone and honey, and the others said yeh vegemite one was delicious too!

I would definitely return and recommend this venue to friends! Great work to the team behind the scenes!

Bicycle thieves is a relatively new Northcote cafe that has a buzz about it. Its impressive for sure. It is a lovely bright open space to sit in and is located nicely on a corner site. I had a long black to start. It wasnt quite top draw. Lovely and creamy but it lacked a little length, I thought. I enjoyed the tiny glass of sparkling water on the side. I ordered the Breakfast Ramen for my dish after reading about it online. It sounded intriguing and I couldnt go past it. I really liked this dish. For a start, it looks amazing. It was a very attractive sight when it arrived at the table. More important, all the flavours and textures in the dish really work. I thought the broth was lovely with impressive depth of flavour. The kaiserfleisch is absolute melt in the mouth stuff. Thrillingly thick and salty – and I mean just the right measure of salt – this is seriously beautiful meat. I had to look the word Kaiserfleisch up. The web tells me its a ham made only from the eye of the pork loin. Marinated for one day and then golden smoked and tenderly cooked the next. Im not sure if thats how they do it here but whatever they do is fantastic. The tofu went beautifully in the meal too. There were gorgeous silky mushrooms as well. And, critically, there was just the right measure of spice right throughout the whole dish.

Someone is a visionary to have created this combination. It really works and I enjoyed it more than a few ramens Ive had from specialist ramen places around town. I didnt know which element to save as my last mouthful, which is always a sign for me of a stellar dish.

There was lovely service throughout. They are pleasant and engaging staff here. This cafe is a really good addition to the Northcote scene and it should do very well.

We had a nice brekkie here, coffee was good. Breakfast ramen was good but missing a little love in the broth. Would’ve liked to have the pork floss in the spoon to enjoy the texture and a different style of chopstick.
