Great setting and fantastic friendly service.
They have their own special gin which was really tasty!
Limited menu items highlighting sophisticated flavours and beautiful presentation.
Dishes tried:
Chickpea fries, parmesan & sesame – These were really good! Definitely worth a try!
Asparagus, curry leaf & nasturtium – simple and light.
Fraser Isle spanner crab, peas & asparagus – it’s always a treat when crab meat comes de-shelled in chunks for you. This dish was refreshing.
Beaufort pork belly, date & green apple – Pork belly crackling was nice and crisp, and went well with the bits of stewed apple. The dish was also accompanied by a pork loin as well as a garlic sausage, which although portioned delicately, was perhaps a bit too much pork on the plate. The date puree/sauce assisted to cut through the saltiness of the pork. For a main dish, the portion was pretty small so definitely get more courses and sides.
Iceberg, grana padano & chive – fresh way to get some veggies
Duck fat roasted potatoes, confit garlic & sea salt – OMG so crunchy and yummy!
Pumpkin side dish – roasted to tenderness.
Chocolate mousse with Choc Cherry brownie and berry sorbet – a rich dessert as expected.
Burnt custard with strawberries, and elderflower granita – when the granita melted it made the whole dish a soupy, watery mess’. Not my favourite.
Honey parfait, pumpkin & miso – DISH OF THE DAY! I was so surprised at how delicious this dish was. I’d return to Estelle Bistro just for this dessert! The description just doesn’t do it justice! The Honey parfait tasted like toblerone, and the pumpkin and miso mousse was really balanced and flavoursome, reminiscent of salted caramel.
