The first Loving Hut I ever went to- It holds a dear place in my heart (especially since it serves La Panella sweets). My review for my most recent visit would’ve been average, but the incredibly convincing vegan egg significantly improved my experience. I ordered the broken rice, and the fried egg sitting atop it tricked me for the real deal. The yolk was the best part. It had the slightly chalky texture and colour of a the real deal when cooked thoroughly. (Trust me, this is a good thing.) Apparently this is due to the addition of pumpkin. The Loving Hut vegan egg puts all other Melbourne cafe vegan eggs to shame, sorry. I paired this dish with a sizzling Mongolian stir fry with duck. Was a bit light on the mock meat, but otherwise great.
