TAO. Or Takeaway Outlet. Because that is what it is.

Look beyond the modern Asian decor. The somewhat cool impersonal service.

And the food. Oh, the food. Do places like this survive in Melbourne?

Take the prawn dumplings. Theyre similar to the frozen, prepackaged frozen dumplings with MsG. Taste the same. Because they are?

Is the lukewarm (despite our request for piping hot) sweet corn soup also originate from a can? Or did the culinary team here work for Campbells in a past life?

The pork fried dumplings are not bad. Although the Shanghai were not. Where is the soup in soup filled dumplings? Less than half still had their liquid inside. The pork filling somewhat mushy and difficult to place.

Come here if you want someone else to cook your frozen dumplings. Otherwise go elsewhere. Poor.

    I had the following:
Vegetarian dumplings – 3/10, barely edible, lacked flavour, undercooked
Sweet and sour tofu with vegetables – 3.5/10, the vegetables must have been boiled prior to being subjected to the awful cooking process.
Sweet chilli eggplant – 4/10, more oil than eggplant, in a very hot bowl, but still managed to be undercooked.

How can everything be so wrong.
