Occasionally I like to go lowbrow. Reminds me of my humble roots, so to speak. This little cafe caters for what I’ll call low profile non hipster Northcote Plaza patrons and it does so very well. My coffee was underpowered but frankly that’s my issue not theirs. I should have applied the usual rule in these places – ask for an extra shot. Ditto my vegemite toast. I was alert enough to ask for multigrain but should have asked for the aforesaid vegemite to be quite liberally applied. It matters not a toss. I enjoyed the toast and my coffee immensely. Looking around this comfortable space I noted a lot of engaged and happy customers. The service I received here was polite, efficient and friendly. I like the cafe for what it is and I’ll be back.
Must try chicken and vegetables with thin noodles or steamed rice.. Came across it by accident ,had it once and I keep coming back for more. Next time your in there try it. The place looks like it needs a update but don’t let that stop you.
Fresh and Consistant!. I work in the centre .. Everyday i will only eat from this cafe. Food is always consistant and fresh.

Great Value, Great Food, Great Coffee, Great Staff. Love this place. Been going here for over 20 years as the quality of food has always been great. Staff are always pleasant and courteous. The coffee is never burnt & you can get a filling meal for under $10. Best coffee in the Plaza.

Ripper value. Very popular on pension day, best lamb curry and rice for 8 bucks ive ever had, just the right amount of cardamon. Very extensive menu catering to all tastes. Forget the ambience this is just good plentiful food for a hungry person
Always delicious. The coffee here is surprisingly one of the best, and most consistent that I’ve had in Northcote. I come here quite a bit when I just want something cheap for lunch. The portions are huge and taste great.
They are almost always busy but I’ve never seen them get flustered or rude towards customers.
I’d definitely recommend Thyme To Eat as a place to go out with friends for a quick, cheap lunch.
