A humming little business on the day we arrived. Their biggest selling point for our Palace Movie group is that they do gluten free fish and chip options with a seperate oil vat for cooking the gluten free items. The chips are delicious with adequate salting. I couldn’t tell the difference between the taste of gf chips vs the non-gf as there wasn’t a beer batter coating so assume it’s the oil vat segregation that makes the gf. The batter on the gf fish was a little less appealing than the normal batter but equally as tasty. We ate in the limited table space provided using plastic cutlery but clearly most were people were taking away. Handy for a quick bite to eat when rushing from work to get to a French film festival screening.
It’s a totally average fish $ chips shop. One choice of fish, Flake, that was terribly bland. Worst of all, we could taste the bleach from their kitchen counter on the batter.
Am currently breaking my teeth on tonight’s order. Very over cooked.
Very disappointed as in the past they have been one of the best in the area.
In winter I always tend to have cravings for hot chips. This is place is located near my office so when the team does a fish n chip run, how can I resist! The food is always cooked to order and the chips are not too greasy.
My friend wanted to grab a quick souvlaki for her brother on Sunday night so I suggested she try this place as we were driving past . The verdict was it was yummm.
Have been coming here for years. Had my first disappointment today-maybe someone new on the grill. Snitzel burger was quite obviously burnt, yet they wrapped it up anyway. Two beef burgers seriously undercooked and pink inside. Too far to take back and complain. Fried food was fine.
There are two more fish and chip shops on high near Separation St.
My partner and I had some fish and chips before seeing a movie down the street. A nice classic fish and chip store that serves your standard fish and chips.

They switch on the Gluten free fryer when they feel like it
We ordered a ‘pack for 2’ as well as 2 gluten free flake and chips. Whilst we were waiting we noticed that they proceeded to cook the ‘pack for 2’ only, which was ready within 10 minutes. They then let it sit under a lamp whilst they proceeded to take 30 minutes (yes…30 minutes) to make the 2 gluten free flake and chips.
We were then called over to collect our food after waiting 40 minutes in total for our order to be complete. I highlighted to them that they’ve had my food under the lamp for 30 minutes, and that it would be cold. I was then instantly shut down and told that it would be hot. When I arrived home my pack was in fact not hot AT ALL. We also realised that we were missing the 2 dim sims which are included in the pack. I called them to complain about how it was cold and to inform them that they completely disregarded the two dim sims which were included in the meal. Once I told him, he kept on insisting that it was hot when we got it and that the definitely included the dim sims and proceeded to give me attitude on the phone, which is NOT acceptable when a customer highlights an issue with the order.
In addition to this, the gluten free flake was rubbery and tasted sad.
We used to be locals here and used to recommend this place to family and friends. However, after being treated like this we are extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. Never again.
