YoYo Noodle Sushi bar located on High street Northcote is the usual cheap Japanese takeaway eatery that offers an extensive menu that may be altered due to dietary requirements. On A Sunday evening I was craving some good quality sushi and nothing else in the area looked appealing as sushi places tend not to be open late on a Sunday and if they are they are usually only the left over rolls that have been sitting there for hours.

I entered the empty vicinity and was greeted by a kind lady behind the counter. There didnt appear to be any sushi behind the glass cabinet and she prompted me suggesting that they can make fresh rolls on request. This pleased me so I grabbed a menu and decided what I felt like. I opted to go for two vegetarian and two prawn and avocado rolls along with one raw salmon as they where all out of smoked salmon and my all time favourite inari.I also ordered 5 salmon and 5 prawn nigiri with a side of steamed vegetables. The sushi was made fresh to ordered with no kewpie on my request.

The food took roughly 15 minutes to prepare and looked mighty fresh. I was not overly impressed with the steamed vegetables price and being changed 13$ for watery, soggy vegetables certainly didnt make my night.

Upon tasting the salmon and prawn nigiri where both great and held there shape well. The rice was cooked to sticky perfection and both the salmon and prawns where flavoursome. The avocado and prawn rolls could have done with much more filling as the avocado was very scarce. The vegetarian rolls where my favourite and the seaweed was well seasoned. I noted that the vegetarian rolls did not have any tofu in them either which was a massive let down. I had the compliments of soy sauce and pickled ginger which both added flavour and texture. The biggest downfall was clearly the mushy steamed vegetables. Only the corn and broccoli reminded there crunch whilst the wilted bean shoots, bokchoy and capsicum where almost inedible.

YoYo Noodle Sushi bar is best suited for lunch as the menu is very large and offers Japanese classics. I applaud the fresh use of ingredients used at this restaurant although it defiantly isnt the cheapest in the area. Sorry YoYo but I think I will still to my usual sushi spot.

Have had take away from this little Asian take away shop twice in the last month.

Particularly enjoyed the combo fried rice and Mongolian noodle with bbq pork.

Portion sizes are generous, everything is full of flavour and great tasting. Service is friendly too so will definitely be back.

Ordered uber eats tonight from YoYo. Large servings, everything tasted great & we had heaps of left overs. It arrived super quick as well. Highly recommended and will order again. Nice personal message on our order as well. :). Great option if you’re in the mood for Chinese food!

I had the chicken laksa and Japanese pork fried dumplings today. The Laksa was ok, but the soup wasn’t super tasty. The dumplings weren’t very nice, not juicy, just felt a bit cardboardy. I really don’t like giving a poor review, especially as the staff were very friendly and helpful. But i wont be going back again.

Ordered from uber eats.Might just be delivery but the sushi was gross. It was luke warm (so not safe) the rice was mushy and just not overly nice.I ordered a lemon chicken but received a honey chicken so that was slightly frustrating. The honey chicken itself was nice enough but just not what I had ordered so we weren’t able to enjoy it. It wasn’t anything incredible but wasn’t bad. Probably wouldn’t order honey chicken from here in future though, there’s much better out there.

$15 for 10 dumplings isn’t too bad of a price. until they arrive and they’re just super small. Tasted amazing – will give them that. Cooked well and the pork tasted wonderful. It wasn’t a horrific or even majorly bad dining experience (and it was through uber eats so in store may be drastically different) I just would not order from here again, and am left feeling quite unsatisfied.

Had combination fried noodles and wonton noodles via UberEATS. The BBQ pork in both dishes didn’t taste good. Fried noodles was below-average in flavour and the beef was undercooked in parts. Wontons were ok but soup had a weird pinkish-orange tinge to it (maybe food colouring from the BBQ pork?) and the noodles used weren’t nice (not egg noodles as expected). Overall edible but couldn’t say it was particularly enjoyable.

Came here with my wife for dinner. We are vegieterian and had vegieterian pan fried dumplings and vegieterian hot noodles. It was really tasty! And the serving size was perfect for two.

    Would definitely recommend!
