In all honesty, I hardly ever eat at Indo restaurants in Melbourne as Ive always seemed to have a sub-par experience. So, when I was scoping out where to eat on a Saturday night, I was honestly curious as to why this was rated so highly, so my family and I decided to try it.
We loved what we ordered – that being the Nasi Campur Ayam, Sayur Lodeh and Bebek Bali. Its all pretty authentic and Im pretty sure the chef is a one woman show, so paint me impressed. The only tiniest of bones I have to pick is that the venue doesnt have the greatest ventilation so prepare for your clothes to smell like food, but its all part of the experience hey.
Would 11/10 recommend this as a solid indo feed if youre out looking for one!

Freshly made indonesian food. I tried to find nasi bakar around melbourne, and this is the only place that i could find. As you can see on my pictures, we have 4 dishes with 2 appetisers which is bakwan and tahu isi. The bakwan is a bit plain but the tahu isi was great. Even though the price was not cheap, in general, the meal is tasteful and I highly recommend Nasi Bakar. It was a nice place to hendle my craving for tasty indonesian food. Well done Yunis kitchen!!

A great honest food experience. You can tell the food is made with care and pride. Was fresh, flavourful and truly delicious. I cant wait to bring my vegetarian daughter. Thank you!

My partner and I enjoyed our visit here with Bearabbit and her partner. Yuni’s has a very nice entrance, a red door to the cosy restaurant inside.

We chose a number of dishes to share, the chicken satay was very nice, juicy tender chicken with a delicious satay sauce. We also wanted to try the rissoles after reading so many reviews, they appeared to me to be more of a croquet. I was expecting your typical rissole and of course the quote from The Castle popped into my head lol These were also enjoyable too.

I have to agree with Bearrabit in that the kway teow was my favourite dish too, I am usually not a fan of the thicker style noodle but this dish had a lot of flavour and generous amount of prawns.

My least favourite dishes were the beef rendang and the curry laska, not terrible dishes by any means but I was expecting more depth in the flavours. The quality of all the ingredients in all dishes were fantastic. The sambal and yellow rice were nice additions too.

Thank you for the recommendation Two Sheds!

Situated on the grounds of a church, the quirky location of Yuni’s Kitchen adds to the charm of this family-run eatery. The unpretentious and casual vibe of this place, and the warm service, were good indicators of the home-cooked style of food to be had here.

I dined with Feeds With Gusto and our respective partner, and we shared the rissoles, satay ayam, beef rendang, chicken laksa and prawn kway teow. My favourite dish was undoubtedly the kway teow. Balanced flavours, chewy and firm rice noodles, and super fresh and juicy prawns. The satay ayam came a close second, with its succulent texture, aromatic grilled flavour, and the delicious peanut sauce that accompanied it. The rissoles were great too – beautifully crumbed, with gooey cheese and scrumptious fillings within.

The broth for the chicken laksa was creamy and tasty, albeit a bit mild for my liking, but I enjoyed it very much drizzled over the yellow rice as the turmeric in the rice added a depth of flavour to it. The beef rendang was delightfully tender, but similar to the laksa, the gravy was rather subdued. Which brings me to the sambal. The sambal was not too spicy, but it complemented each dish brilliantly to deliver a flavour punch.

An excellent recommendation by Two Sheds!

Good restaurant. It has good outdoor and indoor spaces. Both were quiet but very warm and uncomfortable on a Friday night without cooling. It didnt matter. Our party of six still had a great night.

We enjoyed a good range of dishes, both starters and mains. We had shared spring rolls as an entree. These were very tasty. All the mains were terrific too and a number of these were well know standards. These comprised of gado gado, nasi goreng with chicken, beef rendang, yellow rice and finally sayur lodeh, vegetable curry. This was very tasty fresh food and happily we couldnt fault it.

It was a very good meal and service was good too. Sadly there were no ice or ice buckets for wine which was disappointing on a hot night. But still a most enjoyable night.

3.5. My first time trying Indonesian food so can only compare it to other SE Asian dishes, but I thought it was quite good. I really enjoyed the rissoles which were nicely crumbed on the outside with lovely soft gooey cheese and chicken pieces on the inside. The bakwan jagung was ok, a little on the bland side. The kway teow was quite different from the Malaysian CKT that I usually eat. The rice noodles are more stuck together and not as flavoursome as I usually like, but it was still nice. I’d be keen to try some of the rice dishes/curry next time.
