I used to make the trip into Richmond for rotary hot pot, so I was pretty happy to see one this side of town.
Similar pricing structure weekdays $31.30, weekends $33.80 for all you can eat.
There are a number of broths to choose from, but I went with a simple shabu-shabu, cos I know after a while, it would become more intense and I would use my own sauce concoction.
Range of seafood available in the cold fridge. Range of hot items available in the bain maries. Both of questionable quality, but they were alright.
Ordered a load of lamb, ox tongue, beef and chicken, and off I went grabbing whatever I wanted from the moving belt.
After a while though, the choices do seem same-same with not as much variety.
Couldnt help comparing the experience to malatang, which is exploding around Melbourne and much cheaper as well.
Worth a visit if youre prepared to eat a lot and havent experienced rotary hot pot before.
Been here twice, the no meat on the train just annoys me since I keep having to ask for it so many times.
Variety is okay, service is just okay.
Would have to say the tom yum broth is pretty good though.
Love coming to Rotary Hotpot Buffet!
Price is a bit up there, but it is an eat-all-you-can! I love the design of the restaurant and it isnt as squishy as the Rotary Hotpot Richmond branch. They offer a good range of sides to put into your hotpot and the tom yum soup is on point
Also, The red bean dessert is to die for!
We did have to ask staff personally for specific sides just cause it was taking a while for it to come by on the train. But other than that, 5/5
The let down was the lack of variety compared to other hot pot places. Also after the intial novelty with the food passing you by on the rotary belt, it was kind of annoying how i had to wait till the end when people left until the quail eggs eventually came by. That’s because the belt comes out first arriving by the inner tables before the outer tables and lastly to where we were seated – just before the belt goes back to the kitchen. You also had to keep on asking for extra meat. The upside was that there were entrees (takoyaki balls/springrolls etc) to start with and desserts (agar jelly, ice-cream fruit, sago) to finish. Their variety of soup was good too – i had the miso soup and my partner had the chicken and muchroom soup.
3.5
We came here as we have always loved the one in Richmond and this is literally 5 mins from our residence
The concept and the food offerings are basically identical. The venue was not too busy which was good however the hot food was not frequently stocked. The train variety was more plentiful due to lesser people grabbing off the better items
Service was quite slow but all in all not bad for the price you pay
LIT!: on weekdays eat as much as you want for $31.30! We chose the mushroom and Tom yum base. I personally enjoyed the mushroom base better as it didnt change the flavour of the meats as much and you could dip it into your chosen condiments. My fave was the creamy sesame with spring onions. Dont forget theres side dishes and desserts too!
