I have visited Oakleigh Platform Cafe many times and find the owner Ron a nice friendly person who makes excellent cuppaccinos the way I like it and good variety of sandwiches and snacks on the go…. Always friendly with a nice word to say every morning and an enjoyable visit to start my day. I highly recommend a visit.
Quick snacks in the train station.
If you are at Oakleigh train station and need a snack quickly, Oakleigh Station Kiosk made just for you! They also make the best Coffee, Cold Drinks, chips, chocolate bars they have them here. hot dogs and have a selection of pies, sandwiches and cakes. Service with a smile!
Nice bloke who runs this kiosk. I was going to give a thumb’s-down vote to this kiosk, because the flat white I got when I jumped off the Pakenham train for a pre-dawn brain jolt wasn’t that good. But as I sat waiting for the next train to deliver me to Dandenong, where I was working a morning shift at the hospital, I was watching the bloke who runs this place. Big guy, looks Serbian or Macedonian, really friendly. He was having great chats to lots of the coffee fiends who came up. They were obviously regulars who knew this guy well enough for some back-and-forth. While I was ordering, the bloke was being nice to a blowsy girl with freakishly-dyed hair who reminded me of the patients I see on the psych ward. Coarse people like her can be hard to deal with, but he handled her with ease. In a world of impersonal service and snooty baristas, this guy shines in the chilly hours before dawn. That’s as good a reason as any to get a cuppa from here.
