Used to be great, but not anymore. The current owners have clearly decided that spending money on front of house staff is not required on busy Sunday mornings – in a tourist area!!! One on the coffee machine & one doing everything else in the restaurant – seating people, taking orders, delivering food/drinks, clearing tables, lighting and maintaining both fireplaces – just did not cut it. 25 minutes wait for a coffee…. Not the staffs fault, they really tried but just could not keep up. We offered to help by lighting the fires on a 2degree morning, (Ranges is known for this) but with the staff far too busy to assist us with sourcing wood/kindling we couldnt get it going. Many raised eyebrows from patrons shivering in their seats. Food was nice and arrived quickly, obviously kitchen is staffed appropriately. Its no wonder the Ranges was only 1/4-1/2 full while all surroundings cafes were full to overflowing. Sadly we will not return to the Ranges, a former favourite that is no longer capable of delivering due to inadequate front of house staffing.

My Parma was undercooked and half raw. Thankfully didnt get food poisoning even though I had a few bites. Dont know how hard it is to cook a thin chicken schnitzel. The cafe seems to be using a lot of inexperienced young kids.
