Wagtime is part dog grooming salon, and part vegetarian cafe in in a group of shops at Olinda, opposite the Mt Dandenong pub. The cafe occupies the front of the premises and has street views from a raised terrace. It is a great location in a tourist friendly town. There are several outdoor tables under a permanent awning. The interior comprises an off white colour scheme, and polished concrete floors. There are a few wall decorations and a wall of animal- themed gifts and craftware for sale. Some low volume background music helps complete a pleasant ambience. The café was not well patronised as on my visit – I was the only customer -which is a shame. It is adjacent to a well established cafe. It has a great menu – all vegetarian and several vegan dishes – including veggie fritters, and a vegetarian shepherds pie. Extra marks for having a (mostly) plant based menu. I opted for the vegan pizza, which was very tasty and enjoyable, with a tangy tomato base and vegan mozzarella . The coffee, too, wasn’t bad, served at a good strength. The service was welcoming and efficient, and the vegetarian/vegan focus is to be encouraged. Check it out.
