Service was great but the food was the worst Mexican Ive ever eaten. Taquitos, tacos, and enchiladas all had the flavour of boiled cardboard.
Great customer service and really hearty food.
Have been back 3 times in the last 6 weeks! Always feel satisfied after our meal and reasonably priced for the food to you get. Would recommend booking a table 🙂
Scathing review.
Walked in and made eye contact with a man who was leaning on the bar. He looked at us for an awkward 15 seconds before he asked us how many people.
Showed us to our table, we met promptly by the waitress who took our orders, then we never saw her again.
Ordered a Margherita and a Carona for drinks, the Margherita came after about 10 minutes, and I had to go up to the bar, where i was ignored by 2 staff members for about 5 minutes in search of my beer.
Food came out delivered by a lovely waitress, who avoided eye contact and sort of dumped the plates and ran. She also didn’t know which plate was what and we ended up eating each others meals by accident.
Food wasn’t great either, rice was over cooked, the enchilada I had was burnt on the bottom, and the beans…well it looked like cat vomit on a plate.
I’m not one to complain but even at the end, the person taking out money didn’t even ask if we had a good night, just wanted to get us going.
In hindsight, I should have complained and only paid for half a meal or got a full refund.
Appalling. The servo ice-creams on the way home was the highlight.
Food was really nice, I’d give that 4 stars. Service not so much, 1.5 stars for that. Upon arrival we were told we ‘had to be out in an hour’ as they would be booked out. They came fairly quick for our order which was good, then when delivering our meals they were pretty much dumped in front of us, without much said or even looking at us. That was the last time they came to the table.
considering the standard for Mexican food in general that is readily available throughout Melbourne, Montezumas is the very last place you should be going for this cuisine. In fact if it was the last mexican food available on earth, i would not eat it. MINUS 5 out of TEN
Very disappointing food!
Had Garlic Prawns Enchilada which came as only ONE little enchilada with about 3 little prawns swimming in a flood of white sauce on a dinner plate which had a small bowl of super crunchy raw red cabbage, little broccoli and cauliflower florets, 2 little bits of apple and celery doused with a lemon juice dressing…..all raw and boring!
Vegetables obviously came from the supermarket for making coleslaw which is not made with red cabbage anyway! Hopeless!
Sangria was mostly sugar water with only a few drops of tequila and brandy for the smell but not the taste.
Been there a few times and it definitely is going downhill.
NOT good bang for your bucks even with a shop a docket coupon.
NEVER RETURNING!
We used to come here all the time. We all used to take advantage of the birthday meal and bring many family and friends with us. Everything on the menu is delicious except when it contains hairs. We thought it was a once off but it’s happened again. After that we said no more chances. First hair was found in the chocolate mousse. Second time it was baked into the food. Staff are friendly so that’s a bonus. Unfortunately both times we still had to pay for the meal.
