I think the confusion with this place (from our experiences and also reading other reviews) is that there is a sit down restaurant area and a takeaway area and they seem to operate separately with different menus. It’s very confusing and not well indicated. We turned up (a family of four), and said we would like to order pizzas to eat at their outside table as it was a lovely evening. Ordered from the very limited and uninspiring selection of big standard pizza/pasta at the window, but made it clear we wanted to eat outside at their establishment. I also ordered a beer which presumably they wouldn’t be allowed to sell us if we were taking away. We waited over an hour, I ordered a second beer during that time. When we finally asked how long our pizzas were going to take they looked confused then someone motioned to four cardboard boxes sitting on the oven. Apparently they were ours (they weren’t really sure) but they said they had only been there a few minutes. Judging by how tepid (almost cold) and stale they were, I would guess they had been there much longer, and no one figured that the family sitting at their outside table over an hour might just be waiting for food and no one thought to ask. The pizzas themselves were just barely edible, don’t think they would have been much better fresh out of the oven. Couldn’t find anything resembling salami on my salami pizza when I asked they said ‘under the sauce’ but there was maybe one or two tiny slivers. Maybe the seafood dishes inside were better but the pizza was at the lower end of bog ordinary and the service was terrible – these people just don’t have their act together or any concept of service. In general better to self cater in Paynesville as this place had one of the higher average ratings – would hate to see the others!!!
Saw this restaurant advertised in the lake coast magazine as a fine dining venue. Photos had tables covered in beautiful table cloths etc. We then looked up the website which contradicted the ad saying it was a pizza/pasta venue?? We phoned the venue who asked for our mobile number and text us the fine dining menu. We decided to give the venue a go. The place certainly wasn’t fine dining. Just a casual place with over priced food. The captains table had fish cakes that were so very dry. Not impressed for the money it cost us. Wouldn’t go back.
Service pleasant but slow and undertrained. Waited until after enter and then main for drinks. Food just tasteless and uninspiring. Advertised new chef more like new cook.
We were pleasantly surprised by this place! My pizza was delicious and had many toppings. The only reason I didn’t rate higher is because I specifically ordered no onion and was given it anyway. My partner enjoyed a Gorgonzola and chorizo chicken breast. He said it was delicious with a creative mix of flavours. He wished the breast had more cheese but he was very happy with his meal. Thanks!
