  Like others before us we waited far too long for our food to arrive. The excuse being the kitchen is small and cannot get the food out any quicker. My answer is either reduce the number of tables to suit the size of the kitchen or get a bigger kitchen! It is as simple as that. The food was ok but nothing special.

  An extremely poor experience. We were in Paynesville for a Wedding and everything about the weekend was amazing, apart from our experience at the Paynesville Hotel. We arrived with a group booking which had been made 6 weeks in advance and ordered quite promptly as we were advised we could be waiting awhile as we had a big group. By the time most diners had finished up a Waitress came to inform us to ‘shut up or we would be kicked out’ quite aggressively. We noted we had been waiting over 2 hours for our main meals and that perhaps we were just drinking more to curb our hunger and therefore, getting noisier. After 2.5 hours wait and no meals, we asked for a refund of all meals which was swiftly declined by all staff members. We involved the Manager as we were so disappointed with the Hospitality in this establishment and we received nothing but aggressive attitude from the Manager and all Wait Staff. After no refunds were honoured, half of the meals rolled out of the kitchen and very poorly cooked. A couple of rare steaks resembled dry jerky and when we asked for a full refund of these meals we were shouted at and asked to leave. Nothing good to say about this place. Spend your hard-earned elsewhere in Paynesville as there are plenty of lovely places.

  We waited 2 hours for a small plate of very average fish and chips. In those 2 hours, we were moved from the restaurant to the darkening beer garden as we’d ordered “pub food” that couldn’t be consumed in the restaurant. After sunset (9pm), our food still hadn’t arrived, we were being eaten alive by insects, and we had to move ourselves back into the tab which was now quite empty. No one had come to check on us in the meantime, and when the food arrived there were only 5 meals for 6 people. The waiter never checked meal numbers. We had to ask for the last meal, with management insisting we never ordered the 6th meal. A pretty disappointing ordeal that lasted way too long.

  No idea if I ate here or the place next door as we started out in the Paynesville Hotel, moved into the ‘beer garden’ due to the second class citizen status of our orders, and then finally into the TAB seating near the Pub.Was originally turned away at the door as it was full, brought back in by the manager, repeated order multiple times to multiple people and in the end received one less meal than ordered over an hour later. Fish and chips were sad and oily.I wish we had been turned away at the door so we could have eaten literally anywhere else in a timely manner.
