  I’ve visited Tham Dynasty several times over the last 15 years and never had a bad meal. The service can be a bit ordinary, however, the quality of the food is superb. Locals travel from Bairnsdale 16 km away to enjoy Tham Dynasty’s quality. The owners prefer to close the restaurant during quieter periods (to enjoy a holiday break) rather than bring in relief staff. Definitely the best restaurant in Paynesville.

  Very expensive for ordinary standard of food on offer. As part of our selection we ordered one of the 2 chilli chicken dishes on the menu which specified (for chilli lovers), so was expecting some spice to the dish. There were 5 adults dining, and after each of us tried it, it was apparent there was no chilli at all – not even a hint of spice. Advised one of the staff, and was told categorically that there was chilli in the dish, and that she could see it on the plate. She then gave us a small dish of generic chilli sauce to make up for it. Advised the manager that it was not the dish we ordered and she initially said there was nothing she could do as we had already eaten some of the dish (we’re we meant to nominate a taster fir each dish at the beginning??). She would not offer to replace the dish, and it was only after insisting it was fundamentally not what we ordered that she agree not to charge us for it, taking the remainder of the dish from the table. The is the one and only time any of us had sent a meal back and should not have been such an unpleasant experience to do so. Also agree with the other reviewers comments regarding the refusal to provide tap water for the kids we had dining with us. When pressed, they eventually bought out 2 small bottles (for 6 kids) but just bizarre version of customer service in this day and age.

  This possibly the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Normally a regional Chinese restaurant serves basic Australian Chinese style food at a reasonable price. Well the prices here are expensive especially for the standard of food you receive, the service was bad: food served before rice then told rice is coming they are cooking it!! To top off the whole experience we asked for tap water for our daughter and the waitress said they had 500ml bottles no tap water. All in all a bizarre and almost funny experience!
