Great place out the west for some dumplings and quick bites. Similar quality to the other branches in the city.. Always introducing new types of dishes to the menu.. Radish cake is yummy.. Needs some improvements to its cleanliness however not a bad dining experience overall..
Well certainly happy for our choice of lunch places today. This place was exceptionally busy that it was spilling out into the food court. Greeted by friendly staff. Xiao long bao crab & pork delicious, pork & chinese fried dumplings, beef fried dumplings, spring onion pancake mini pork buns. Everything was delicious. Prompt service, would be happy to go back again when we cant be bothered adventuring into Melbourne
Seriously a slightly above average dumpling place. With no similar restaurant around the area, this might just be one of the better dumpling place in Point Cook. I had some Prawn and Pork wonton soup and Prawn and Pork wonton with peanut and chilli oil. I can taste the msg in the soup and the peanut and chilli oil is not well balance. The after taste of the Sichuan peppercorns is too strong.
3.5 *
The dumpling skin is too thick today, some times is good but today is just too thick. The fried rice cakes is also too oily not much flavour, too bland. I think the only dish I like today is the sesame prawn.
I live near this joint and it’s the same as the one in Chinatown that I go to but slightly cheaper and has the same menu but less dishes the food is good, standards are similar (probably more bland but it’s fine), they have home-made drinks though 😮 the pomelo mango juice is it gets bust towards dinner time around 7-8am. I recommend!
My score 4 stars. Had lunch at SSD yesterday – this was about the 4th time weve been to this outlet in the last 2 months. Weve been to the city outlets lots of times, many years ago (memories of lining up for lunch at the original caf). No need here, although it was pretty busy this time, being school holidays. Even so, our food came out fairly quickly & the service was good (& extremely polite). The head guy is a gem & the young woman at the register was very proficient & repeated our order to ensure everything was correct. Previously we have had > Boiled Vego dumplings quite nice but cool down too quickly. Vego dumplings in Chilli oil soup dumplings good, but the soup seemed a bit watery. Pork & prawn wontons in peanut sauce wontons were ok, but the sauce gradually got really spicy & left my mouth numb (maybe Sichuan peppercorns involved???). This time we (again) shared a plate of Pan-fried vego dumplings & a bowl of Vego dumplings in hot & sour soup. Pan-frieds were good nice filling (no earthiness that vegos often have at many places) & the base was crispy, without the rest of the dumpling being dry. The soup was fab soft, moist dumplings in a tasty, moderately spicy, gelatinous soup. It also contained plenty of: Seaweed/bamboo shoots/Egg swirl/tofu. IMO it wasn’t too spicy (for the chilli averse) – we added Chilli Oil to both dishes! Plenty new to try next time, if we can tear ourselves away from this combo Cheap too!
