A great little bar and restaurant with pizzas which are a step-up from the usual. The prosciutto pizza was pretty well perfect. Â Atmosphere is cosy with a younger clientele (for Port Fairy) and even a good playlist. Whilst the wine list was small, it covered the varietals. Â Well worth re-visiting.
(Closer to 3.5 stars). Fun, informal pizzeria on Port Fairy’s main drag – small frontage gives way to expansive dining area via a snug bar. Pizzas are excellent value and whilst maybe not the best ever, they were certainly perfect for the four of us as we hoed vicariously into the food presented to us. And the side salads are huge (as are the cocktails)!
If you ever find yourself in port fairy, do yourself a favor and grab a pizza from coffin Sally. The wife and I don’t drink, but if you do, they have a bar near a fireplace for those cold nights.Staff were nice even when they were getting smashed by a late rush. Well worth a visit.
My score 4.5 stars (hard to achieve perfection). Until recently we lived at Koroit for 9 months & had dinner here the week before xmas & in March. Entering via a hallway to the side, you emerge to an eclectic mix of furniture & decoration. First time – the town was overwhelmed with tourists, restaurants were all busy & CS was chockers – inside the restaurant people were out to party & have a good time. Surreal contrast the second time – town & restaurants much quieter, but CS was still pretty full when we arrived. When we left it was chockers & looked like a party in full swing – got outside & it was like a ghost town – everything was closed (except Rebecca’s ice-creamery)! Service at CS is relaxed & laid back, staff are all youngish but look like they’re old hands. When it’s really hectic & noisy it can be hard to attract a waiter’s attention, but you come here for the food & the vibe (I just got up & went to the bar to order drinks – easy peasey). Huge range of serious craft beers (they have wine too). My fav was a Vintage Christmas Dark Ale/Porter!!! Pizzas are the real deal – top notch ingredients & great dough (reminds me of the original incarnation of Pizza Verde at Kyneton). First time we had 2 fab half & half pizzas – toppings > Potato/Mushroom/Pear Blue/Prosciutto. The second time we pigged out & had to take some home with us. The 3 pizzas were > Mushroom/Pear blue/Garlic pizza. We craved Gorgonzola & Taleggio again, but could just as easily have gone for one with the Buffalo mozzarella! Garlic P was yummy & garlicky. BTW prices are a little higher than the menu shown above. A must do if you’re down this way & like good pizza (& a fun night out).
