Boring food, got this from Groupon for a 4 person meal ($105) however was slightly disappointed in what was served. Carbs galore with bread and pizzas and dips, not much meat was served (refer to photos)..
It was okay though dont get me wrong, but a bit boring..
I wouldnt recommend the Groupon deal and just go there on a nice sunny day to order ala carte, quite in the afternoons probably gets busier on Friday and Saturday evenings..
We have been to Mr Lawerence several times now and have tried many items from the menu. We love it, food it really delicious, we love the meze platter, the slow cooked lamb and the eggplant pizza. Staff are very attentive and the venue is a lovely comfortable space. We will return often.
I suggested Mr Lawrence for dinner with friends last night and by chance we discovered it was $10 pizza night. I was impressed with the interiors and fabulous ambiance, it took us on a real journey to the Middle East.
The pricing of the menu was a little distorted to me. For $30 we bought three chicken skewers and for $30 we also bought three pizzas. The skewer itself was flavourful and moist if overpriced. The eggplant pizza was so delicious with its yummy textural pops of pomegranate we ordered a second. The prawn one was tasty also.
We also had the hummus and bread with spicy lamb and the slow cooked lamb. The lamb was a little fatty but I enjoyed its grain accompaniment. The bread with the dip was absolutely fabulous, but next time I would get the sans lamb option.
Dessert wise we tried a variety of options, the lemon pudding, Moroccan mess and the chocolate fondant with a Moroccan twist in the addition of dates. The fondant was perfectly gooey and my favourite of the three. The lemon was a little more tart so a good option for those that dont enjoy overly sweet deserts. Overall a great addition to lovely Port Melbourne

We came into Mr Lawrence with a group of 6 for one of our regular catchup meals. The first thing we noticed was the amazing view out over the spirit of Tasmania wharf and then our attention was turned to the impressively styled interior which really caught my attention. Upstairs was more formal and traditional but I liked the varied imaging and impressive bar on the ground level.
We started off with a round of drinks which included the beer paddle option and a number of non alcoholic options.
Tonight was $10 Turkish pizza night and so it would be rude not to really. We chose the eggplant, tahini, and pomegranate pizza as well as the prawn, zucchini, halloumi and harissa pizza. These came on a light and thin pizza dough in a canoe shape, they were visually stunning but pretty darn tasty too.
Other tasty dishes were the slow cooked lamb which was tender, tasty but a little fatty and served in a bed of chickpeas. The chicken skewers were mighty fine with a garlic and herb marinade. While these skewers were delicious they were a little on the pricey side at $10 each. I can get a whole pizza for the same price on pizza night after all.
For dessert tonight I tasted the Chocolate Fondant, the Lemon Pudding and the Moroccan Mess Meringue. My favourite was the rich and decadent chocolate fondant which was a super dessert. The Moroccan Mess was visually stunning with meringue, berries, cream and fairy floss.
Service was ok. My feedback would be that given we hadnt dined in before we could have used a bit more guidance around quantity of food to order or suggestions for ideal sharing dishes. We only discovered that it was $10 pizza night almost by accident when debating whether to get an additional pizza. This sort of deal should have been on the menu or explained to us before we were midway through the order.
Overall we enjoyed the freshness of authentic tastes of this menu and I really enjoyed the ambience. I think their price point challenges the concept of generous sharing. The groupon deals and entertainment book offers out there address this to some extent.
