I got the NY bbq Stack which is a ridiculously good bbq meat sandwich. I was seeing all these ads on Facebook and decided to check it out. The sandwich itself was pretty freakin good and it came out quick. The one thing that puzzled me about this place was the crowd. They were all way too tame for a bbq joint. Not a fault of the restaurant in the least. It was actually entertaining to watch the well dressed up tight Port Melbourne stiffsters try to tackle a brisket sandwich with a fork and knife. A bit of a hands up roll the eyes moment. Definitely gonna keep an eye on their specials and probably gonna do their all you can eat night. #deadguyale
Unicorn rib sandwiches, pulled pork burgers, the best chicken ever are labels which caught my attention and urged me to try Third Wave Cafe. My expectations were quite high after reading the reviews however, unfortunately I left unimpressed. I ordered the chicken and also tasted the pork ribs, beef brisket and loaded fries.
When I think of the best chicken ever I expect it to be succulent and juicy but this is not what I received. My chicken was over cooked and was screaming for moisture. The crispy coleslaw saved the chicken as it added that moisture which it was truly in need of. In saying this, I did enjoy the smoky BBQ sauce on the chicken.
When the brisket arrived at the table I was underwhelmed with the appearance as it looked nothing like the photos on the slideshow. It reminded me of an under seasoned Sunday Roast.
I think the ribs were the best in comparison to the chicken and brisket as they were tender and smoky but not the best ribs ever.
The standout for me were the loaded fries. They were generously topped with melted cheese and brisket bits which had a crunchy exterior and soft interior.
Sorry Third Wave but after this experience, Im not sure Ill be back.
I was waiting for go to this place for long time I think my expectations was so high! Is a very small place, the service was good and we tried the special of december and the burguer with half bacln half porterhouse patty I think the flavor was good but nothing sensational. We spent 90$ for 3 person .
Walked in at 6:20 and there were only three tables full, staff were very apprehensive about letting us sit at any of the 20 or so odd tables that were empty, but begrudgingly allowed us to, not before telling us we had to leave by 8. No worries. Beef ribs were chewy and very salty. Wedges were unsalted and did not come with sauce. Left at 7, and nobody else walked in. Did not enjoy, would not return. Bathroom was revolting.
I came here recently and I ordered the lamb shower, beef ribs, smoked mac n cheese and chicken wings. The chickens wings were delicious, they said spicy but they werent too spicy. The mac n cheese was good but it wasnt too creamy, it was like the cheese was only melted on top. The lamb shoulder was delicious at first but after 5 minutes it started to cool down and go dry, which means it was a few days old. The overall winner was the beef ribs, we really really enjoyed them. I would definitely recommend, next time I will try the pork ribs and Ill get the beef ribs again because they were delicious.
Standout meal were the beef ribs – the ribs were full of flavour and cooked perfectly.
Was however disappointed in the Ruben sandwhich – it had way too much coleslaw which made it sloppy and not enough brisket to balance it out. The chips were not the greatest but the mac and cheese side was ok.
Also ordered a salted caramel milkshake and that was delicious!
Overall the place itself is ok – there is a lack of cooling though which isnt the best when it is a warm day.
Would really give it a 3.5 and would come back just for the BBQ’d meat as that was a highlight!
Cheese bomb … … … … OK… … … …………………………………..
