Little Japanese Ramen Sake bar hiding in the central of Chapel Street. Ordered chicken ramen, Wagyu Stamina Bowl and matcha cheesecake for dessert. Ramen is delicious, broth is rich, smooth and perfectly cooked chicken. Wagyu bowl is average, Wagyu is quite chewy, onion is very hard to eat, felt left in the kitchen for a long time. Matcha cheesecake is not bad. We will go back to try others.
Worth a go. The ramen, although of a good standard, were verging on being a bit too dense for my liking. The soup broths were flavoursome, but lacking in the simple, light yet flavoursome broths that a good and authentic ramen house would serve up. If youre local, give it a go and see what you think. The alleyway venue checked a few boxes in itself.
Turned up at about 5:30pm on a Sunday with a friend and were asked if we’d made a booking. I was pretty surprised and said no, and we were shown to a lovely table upstairs that looked over the whole downstairs floor. We’d been there about 10 minutes and I understood why reservations were taken here: before it even hit 6pm the place was packed out. The decor is absolutely beautiful, with Japanese trinkets adorning walls to create a space unlike any other I’ve seen in Melbourne. The service was so charming and efficient, and the food… that food! An absolute dream. I just returned from two weeks in Japan last month, and the ramen was just as amazing here as it is in Tokyo, albeit twice the price. The tan tan ramen was divine; just the right amount of spice and with delicious pork on top (and free range to boot). My friend said his miso was the best he’d had in Melbourne. This place is quirky, unique and has exquisite food befitting the divine decor. 12/10 would come back again.
Wow I absolutely loved this place and luckily friends took us here cause I didnt even know this place existed. Located down a laneway off chapel , this cool trendy place is a hidden gem. Staff here are fantastic , friendly and make you feel so welcome. I loved the fit out and the open two level space makes you never want to leave. The food here was great although I didnt get a chance to try the Ramen (will come back for that). Mixed asian tapas were delicious and had the pork gyozas , fried chicken , prawn and mango tempura , fried chicken boa and edamame. Definitely worth putting this place on your list to try.
This place is the business! Great ramen – even better than most of the ones I had in japan, with a broth that is delicate and not too salty, and really perfect noodles. The layout/atmosphere is also super nice! Will be back many times for sure.
