    Fantastic birthday dinner!

Oh Darebin RSL. Not a single pub in Melbourne can match up to your sense of community. The staff members treat everyone like friends and family. I had a free birthday vegetable risotto and it was big, well cooked, super tasty. They also altered a meal to be vegetarian for my chaperone. The price of food & drinks too is exceptional for what you get. I’m glad to be a member of the Darebin RSL.

Was here for the 1st time & last time, on NYE, self serve, oldies don’t know which end to start & finish, so clashes in middle trying to get around with food on plate, if people’s don’t turn up still we have to pay for them $60 each, band was bad miming, music sometimes modified, not the same, marmbling, cant understand male & Female singer’s, at times, band was fake, must be music over riding band music, band music must have been very low, music in back ground higher volume, some tracks with clarinet & saxophone playing, but they havent got a saxophone or clarinet playing, so fake instruments, also I only danced 1 dance but remixed was bad for the remix of the version of trying to play a famous song, tables where dirty from previous patrons, people’s had to lift tables & chair’s over other people’s heads to sit with there groups, too dangerous. A jug of beer was around $18 each with the wining voucher, 1st voucher we got 2 jugs, with no extra owing, 2nd voucher we won through raffle ticket costed us extra $8 just for 1 jag, not good. Ripped us off vouchers where of $10 worth, don’t forget 1st entry voucher we got 2 jugs for free, then raffle voucher for $8+ extra so $18+.

The staff were professional , caring and very friendly. Comfortable surroundings with a Kids play area. Basic beers on tap and the odd craft beer in a bottle. Complimentary Bread roll and butter. The days special grilled Barramundi was magnificently cooked. Came with a choice of chips, salad and veg. salad was nice the chips were stone cold, the chips underneath the hot steamy fish were tepid. Don’t know about everyone out there but when you are served a meal with chips the first thing you reach for is a chip. A cold chip put an immediate damper on the expectations of the rest of the meal.

The Darebin RSL is well worthy of your hard earned with great food, and even better service. 🙂
