We actually waiting for this moment for very long time. This restaurant is in my list for a while and finally got chance! We start with the drinks and donut meat ball! And lamb ribs! That is amazing taste! We also ordered special pork schnitzel and beef larger, all are very good . It is a highly recommend place .
Refreshing mocktails to start with, everything here from drink to meat to desserts were amazing! My favorite was the meat donut, the sweetness and savory meat sauce matched perfectly together, the soft dough was very good when it served hot! The bone in prime rib was excellent too, juicy and tender, there were tendon and meat in all cuts which made so much textures in the mouth, strong flavors.
My partner felt like American bbq so since we were in the area, we decided to give Dexter a go. This place really has an understated/low key exterior that make it easily go unnoticed but wow was the food so good! Everything was delicious – we had the caramel short ribs & point end brisket (two larger menu items served up on one dish) and the hot meat donuts. The meat just slides off and was succulent, so quite perfected. I only have mild food and I could still handle the heat of the donuts so it’s one for all to try. Our waitress was very chatty and gave us plenty of suggestions. I would highly recommend.
Highly recommended by a friend, so book for a table (to be sure). And it was really packed on A Saturday night. Food is absolutely great. I told the waitress to feed us, and it was a good surprise. All the food that came out from the Kitchen to our table ( shared with my friends) was delicious. Don’t forget to try thier meat doughnuts. What a Genius idea.
From chicken to pork to beef, this joint serves up some awesome tasty meat superbly cooked, and generously paired with mash, marrow and toast. Brisket bun and short rib main are personal favourites but everything is amazing. Milk and cookies are freshly baked cookies served with milk ice cream for a cheeky finish.
Completely deserved ratings for this place, it’s fantastic. Innovative menu inspired by American BBQ, but somehow manages to create new tastes that really work. The meat donuts in particular are sensational, as are the caramel ribs. Prices are great for what you’re getting. A great place for a group meal. I’m usually skeptical of fusion/new cuisine type places, but it completely works here and is perfectly executed.
Pros:
One of the most delicious American BBQ you can find in Melbourne. Had the beef brisket, less fat than meat maiden, yummy sauce. That comes with mashed potatoes with garlic oil secret sauce, super delicious! The pickles and coleslaw were great too. Kentucky fried cauliflower are delicious too!
Cons:
– Smoked chicken was a bit slightly salty.
– Seats at the back room with Red light makes really hard to see what you are eating (see attached photos for references).
– The waiter can’t be bother to introduce the menu even you asked.
– Limited craft / interesting beer choices.
– Too hard to make a booking.
– Have no house made / special BBQ sauce that many other American BBQ restaurant does.
