This place was different. We loved the get smart theme along with the old school music.
I would have liked a bit more explanation of the food on the menu as a lot of it did sound similar to me. We ordered the bisque and a po’ boy. Wasn’t sure what a po’boy was and was given a bit of history which was interesting. In essence it was a sandwich although it was more like a roll.
Food didn’t really astound me, i would be back mainly for the beers on tap and chill time with some mates.
Really impressed with this New Orleans-inspired joint, that manages to be both a classy restaurant and a Get Smart-themed bar. The food is Southern-inspired – think cornbread, po boys, seafood bisque, jambalaya – with plenty of vegetarian options. Our meal began with mini cornbreads, which were sweet, warm and served with maple butter. Then we got the pickles with bread – this turned out to be way bigger than expected with about eight different kinds of pickles (including gherkins, cocktail onions, red onions, bread and butter cucumbers and okra) and three chutneys. Everything was super tasty. For the main, I had a truly exceptional gumbo – I got the vegetarian option which was a mix of corn, capsicum, beans, okra, onion, loads of spices and pepper in a thick roux, topped with white rice and garnished with chives and parsley. Again, the serving was enormous and such good value for the price. My one regret was that I was too full to order dessert – but Ill definitely be back for that because holy hell, they do beignets, lemon meringue pie AND pecan pie! One of those meals Ill be thinking about for a long time.
