i went to an event here where 4 collingwood players had an eating competition to see who could eat a 500gm chicken Parma the quickest. for the record Adam Treloar won in 4.5 mins.

this is a typical suburban pub and it doesnt want to be more. they know their lane and they are happy in it.

I was invited to the Preston Hotel to witness the inaugural parma eating contest undertaken by players of the Collingwood Football Club. The winning time of 4.5 minutes to consume the pubs 500g parma issues the challenge to diners for if they can beat that time their meal is free.
This is very much a local pub style atmosphere and the owner spoke of it being a haven from hipsters but with a real sense of community. They donate from every meal sold to local primary schools and they have many partnerships with local sports clubs by way of sponsorship. They also source all their produce locally ensuring they give back to the community in the sense of supporting local suppliers.
Being a footy event we had party pies and sausage rolls as well as the slightly more exotic dumplings, sushi and seaweed salad. The definite highlight for me was the in house made cheese pizza. The meals here are an absolute bargain (half a kilo parma is only $20!) and this was seriously some excellent pizza. If you do find yourself in the area I would certainly recommend ordering that and youll definitely meet some interesting characters too!

We were invited along to The Preston Hotel to witness history in making at the Great Parma Challenge. This local pub on High street Preston has a lot of rustic character and is a local hangout, independent from the surrounding Woolworths owned establishments. The owner recently acquired this pub with the intention of making is a bastion for Preston locals and support the local community through donations from every meal sold.

Tonight though it was the venue for an epic Parma eating contest featuring Collingwood AFL Players who ate the Preston Parma 500g Parma at great pace. The winner (Adam Treloar) ate his parma in a record time of 4 minutes and 30 seconds. If you order one of these meals at a reasonable $19.95 and can beat his time you get another one for free ( on another day I assume). These looked great from the peanut gallery and Adam was so keen on his meal he continued to completely clean his plate.

Throughout the night we were treated to some excellent wines and beers and what footy based event could be complete with party pies and sausage rolls. They catered for us with a mixture of external and menu items. The in house pizza was delicious and very reasonably priced.

    Was a fun evening.
