Wanted to take some friends who were visiting from overseas for a fine dining experience without the $$$$ price tag, and so decided to book a table at Anchovy as wed heard a lot about them. Needless to say we left full, impressed and blown away by the quality of the food and service.
The restaurant is small but cosy, with dim lights setting the mood, and a lovely bar and atmosphere which foreshadowed the fine dining experience to come.
For the 4 of us (with help from the lovely waiting staff) we decided to order the pickled sardines, kalettes, beef carpaccio, squid, chicken liver, Moreton Bay bug, grilled kingfish (and the herb garden to accompany this as strongly recommended by the waitress) braised lamb claypot (adding on some steamed rice), and the fermented rice cream to finish.
Including drinks it all came to just under $70pp, and every single dish was fresh, and had a strong and distinct yet never-before-had Vietnamese influenced flavour! I had always been a huge lover of Vietnamese food but I was blown away by the new flavours I got to experience here.
Cannot recommend them enough for a great evening of great food!
