Dim Sum Deport is a new dumpling restaurant that has opened in Richmond. At first glance, it looks cool and I love that you can order food via their iPad menu. Thats really the only positive I can think of for this place.
When I tried the first lot of dumplings I thought that the taste of the meat filling was very familiar. I really didnt like it and then I realised the filling tastes just like frozen dumplings from the supermarket which makes me think that the quality of the dumplings are not that good. The pastry was also very fragile as well.
The chilli oil dumplings are not spicy at all – definitely more sweet than spicy. How disappointing.
The ginger prawn and pork dumplings are very plain. Couldnt even taste the prawn or ginger.
The xiaolongbao were hot but didnt have enough liquid and were a weird shape! The texture was all off.
I would not recommend this place for dumplings! Very poor quality. Keep going to China Red everyone! Haha.

We ordered a roti bread w peanut sauce. This was one of the tastiest rotis and sauces that Ive had in a very long time! Wow 5/5
The we had some popcorn chicken w sweet chilli sauce which was good.
That was followed by some prawns in rice paper which were really good and then some pork dumplings which I really enjoyed.
And I really liked the fact that you had to order via a laptop so you could pick n choose and see the bill before you ordered 🙂
Overall it was a solid menu w some really tasty food and service.

I came here with a meetup foodie group of 16 people. We had a great host Elle who was very accommodating and made the booking easy and care free. The service was fast and efficient. Love the ipad ordering. We ordered a great variety of dishes, including char kway teow, shanghai dumplings (xiao long bao-more soup in them wouldve been lovely), pan fried chicken dumplings, spicy dumplings to name a few. Everything was packed full of flavour. We will definitely be back 🙂 Thanks Dim Sum Depot. 🙂
