If at all possible this place has gotten worse. Has given up any pretence to be ‘French’ and is a cheap and crappy Asian cafe – they now advertise “Malaysian cuisine”. Being Richmond/Abbotsford you can either get 10x better cafes with funky and inventive menus, or 10x better Asian restaurants that focus on the relevant cuisine. Avoid at all costs.
Confused. Place is called French Baguette Cafe. Must re-name it as they have Malaysian food. Average and non-presentable cakes. Enjoyed the croissant: nice buttery flavour. Spacious cafe. Dead quiet on arrival.
Dont base your decision about coming on this 2.9 rating, i dont know who has tried to pull the wool over your eyes like this but this is a hidden gem!!! The Banh Mi here has my sweet tender heart, the pork succulent, the roll, crunchy whilst being perfectly balanced with fatty pate and all the essential vietnamese trimmings. ME GUSTAP.s the staff are so sweet ily
I used to be a fan of this branch of French Baguette but things have gone downhill in recent times. You have to wonder how fresh their products are if they are still selling Christmas cookies one month after Christmas. I felt courageous enough to purchase 3 slices today even though there were faint alarm bells ringing in the background. Tiramisu slice – the mousse had a solid, jelly like consistency and there was very little coffee taste. Overall, it was bland and disappointing. Strawberry chocolate slice – the chocolate sponge was stale and the strawberry cream layer was once again, too jelly like and did not make much sense to my taste buds. Opera slice – this was quite edible. There was a strong coffee flavour and the multiple thin layers of cake interspersed with cream was almost lovely. Service was slightly over bearing but with no customers in sight, this was not too surprising.
