Craving for a sweet treat during the Royal Melbourne show, we were delighted to find that Fritz gelato had us covered. While I hadn’t been to the original store, I enjoyed my visit to the stall at the Show. However, I would prefer Messina or Pidapipo had I the choice but great gelato nonetheless, from Fritz.
Got the strawberry sundae and the lemon sorbet as well as blood orange and passionfruit sorbets($8 for 2 scoops). The strawberry sundae was creamy and had bits of chocolate throughout which was a nice surprise. All the sorbets were nice and fruity and were quite smooth. My favourite would be the lemon, which was refreshing and I enjoyed that the sorbet has visible specks of lemon zest.
Although there was a rather long queue(it is the show after all), service was efficient and friendly. They were even nice enough to let us use our entertainment voucher – a nice surprise and great value!
Craving for gelato in this cold weather can be quite frustrating. Some gelato joints close for the winter break (Hello Gelo and iScream, I’m looking at you) and I’m left with the old faithfuls when I need my craving satisfied. The always reliable Fritz Gelato is one of my go-to in such cases. Never had any issue with their service and quality of the gelato. The gelato here are pretty spot on in texture and flavours, albeit having less variety to choose from compared to many other gelato shops. This may be why I always order the panacotta and berry flavour, and any special flavours that they have on rotation to try out new things. If all else failed, stick to boring old vanilla, in my humble opinion, it’s way much better than the strawberry, coffee and even salted caramel.
Tasty ice cream overall. I’ve been here several times, but I have noticed that the staff here are getting progressively worse and I was not blown away by my experience, nor has it been memorable. Especially with Messina now located on Swan St, this place has to do better if it wants to compete and survive.
Have tried the Hot Cruss Bun ( in spirit of Easter ), Honeycomb, Chocolate and Bounty flavors all of which were pretty good – decadent, sweet and what you’d expect from gelati.
Had a delicious gelato here one evening recently- no seating indoors really to speak of, lots of flavours to choose from at fairly standard prices, friendly and informative staff. Overall it’s a pretty standard and delicious ice cream joint!
Good and nice tasting ice cream when you are in the local Richmond area, the texture of the ice cream is smooth, the expresso one was my favourite, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Smooth and delicious gelato.
We came to this place for dessert after stuffing our stocmach full of dumplings from the nearby ear-popular I Love Dumplings.
Here we tried the passionfruit and salted caramel gelato which were both delicious and smooth. Texture wise it was soft and melting – pretty on-point. Flavour wise it was just above average though, we wish it was a bit milkier.
Price wise it was a bit more exxy than other places.
Yummy ice cream overall. I stuck with a scoop of Chocolate. I’ve been here several times, but I have noticed that the staff here are getting progressively worse. The customer before me got an earful for not shutting the door behind him, the young guy behind the counter wearing a sleeveless shirt, and covered in tattoos, was really rude… He tossed me the cup of ice cream, and just stood there looking at me? I had to ask him twice how much I owed him, to which he yelled back the total. I seriously thought he was looking for a confrontation… Anyway. I hope the managers address this fast, Bridge Rd is quickly becoming very unforgiving towards these places.
