It’s a busy cafe with a large menu. The MOFO hot chocolate does not contain refined sugars, so it’s not too sweet, which was nice. I also enjoyed the chilli jam that came with the omelette.
This is a nice cafe on Bridge Road, w friendly service from the staff. This cafe has a lot of seating inside and outside in a courtyard. Great for summer.
I ordered a piccolo latte which was alright, it had a good crema and the flavour was ok. I didnt eat here as I was just after a coffee but the food on display looked good.
Overall its a handy location.
I have walked past this place so many times but only finally got to try it out today; and I am so glad that I did.
On first inspection, the tables and water glasses are clean with the menus neatly placed. The floors and bench tops are also clutter-free and very clean as well. The staff greeted my and two friends warmly and gave us just the right amount of time to peruse the menu and order food.
I ordered the St. James Bircher which came with coconut yoghurt and a poached pear on top. The bircher had an assortment of berries, nuts and seeds – plus big chunks of macadamias which is always a bonus for me. It is extremely filling but so delicious. There is a strong cinnamon flavour throughout the dish, but the addition of the cold and creamy coconut yoghurt really breaks both the flavour and textures up. There were also pomegranate tendrils sprinkled all over which were greatly welcomed.
Another friend ordered the acai bowl and practically inhaled it. I too tried it and thought that it was very icy but had a strong raspberry flavour. However, it is refreshing but would probably be better with some coconut yoghurt.
And the third friend ordered the pancakes. She couldn’t finish them as they were very sweet and filling, but she thoroughly enjoyed the meal nevertheless. The coulis is the factor that makes it quite sweet, and the pancakes themselves were cooked well and work nicely with the yoghurt. It is a very decadent dish I think.
I truly love this place – from the interiors and staff, to the food itself. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate in returning, and will recommend to anyone!
