Restaurant dirty, food gross and took ages. Also didn’t blank out dishes on the menu board that they had run out of. Was really looking forward to trying this place but thoroughly let down.

This place can be hit and miss. I really like the burger selection, but not so much the fish (which should be the star). Great chips and salad selection but a little expensive for what you get.

Been here a few times and I honestly can say this the best thing about this place is the chips. I love my seafood and this fish and chips just doesn’t do it for me. Flavours are bland and just under average. At first it was a decent fish and chip shop for your fried flakes but it has just gotten down hill. So much oil was left on my fish pack and the grilled fishes are even worst. Not to mention, it is over priced, I’d rather eat hunky dorys! Wouldn’t waste my calories here.

We had the battered flake which was let down by the oiliness of the batter. The oil rose to the top when you put your fork into the fish. The fish itself was quite nice. The chips and potato cakes were substandard. Chips were undercooked while the potato cake seemed stale and hard. I still have that unpleasant mouthfeel of a coating of oil.
Update April 2018. We had a craving for potato cakes and chips this afternoon and thought wed try this place again. The potato cakes are still not the best and the chips are pale and bland. Disappointed…Again..

Fish market is my go to fish n chip joint in Richmond. The Rockling with greek salad is delicious. Fish is so fresh and priced appropriately.

    An upmarket Hunky Dory.
The rice is better, the fish is better and the presentation of food is done with a lot more care than the chain.
Great local beers available with friendly staff.
Will recommend to anyone who lives locally for a great nutritional take away meal when you don’t have time to cook.

Have been here several times. Each time getting progressively worse. Both in price and service… Last time I made my order as simple as I could, and asked for one of their packs. I only added that I wanted tartare sauce, and a little chicken salt on chips. What I ended up with was 1 tomato sauce packet, and enough salt to render the food inedible. It was so excessive that no reasonable person could eat it. I was home before I noticed, so I figure that if I’m going to spend $30 on fish n chips as a treat, and get that, next time I would rather drive to Swan St.
