  Winkel is easy to miss as you drive by it but it was such a great find!
  There is a courtyard out the back of the cafe that catches the sun and makes it such a beautiful place to have a coffee and catch up.
  I had a baked eggs style dish and I often find that the yolks are fully cooked, not here! It was delish!
  Coffee is also worth a mention and the service was great!

  This corner cafe on Church and Somerset street has a nice feel – its considerably spacious with outdoor seating (both at the front of the cafe and at the back courtyard). The interior is modern and clean, with plants hanging from the ceiling and in pots. I also like the little shelf beside the front bench thats for visitors who want to exchange books. Considering that we came in at a time when there werent many people (2.50pm on a Tuesday), service was lacking from the get-go. (No warm welcome either) The worst part was waiting 23 minutes for our food to come out (We thought they had forgotten about us completely seeing as customers who came after us received their meals before us). On the other hand, the menu has a nice variety and the food is affordable. We ordered the avocado smash which was decent, nothing special. (There were some chopped chillies on top, but we didnt eat them). Meanwhile, the spiced shashuka wasnt too bad. I would have preferred more bread or something to balance out the saltiness of the shashuka. Overall, nice atmosphere, okay food and slow service.

  I had brunch at this new cafe today. The service was nice and friendly from the waitress.

  For brunch I ordered the corn fritters. I was expecting flat corn fritters so I was a bit surprised when my food hit the table and they fritters were deep fried balls.

  The flavour of the corn fritters was good, w some nice spice but they were too heavy and oily in texture and taste for me.

  The rest of the dish was alright though.

  After having my morning coffee already I didnt order one w brunch but I saw someone being served a coffee and it looked good.

  Good lunchtime stop at this airy and open corner cafe.
  Limited menu with a couple of additional daily specials however they are good dishes.
  Friendly and accommodating staff.

  Beautiful, ambient & airy cafe. Lovely Axil coffee. Always have a soup & a winter curry on (which I have not yet tried, but looked delicious). Yummiest baked eggs ever, & they were happy to make vegetarian version with beautiful thyme mushrooms. Lots of reading – New Yorker, the age.. Great addition to the area 🙂

  Dropped by this morning and immediately knew I wanted to have the nutritious Brunch bowl – quinoa, black spiced chickpeas, avocado, beetroot relish, sweet potato, kale & tahini dressing. I opted to add chicken for extra protein. The dish was absolutely delicious & essentially could not find a fault. It was super filling and very reasonably priced. The coffee was delicious but quite a small serve.

  Ive only the cafe rated down due to some difficulties getting our order correct. We had to repeat our order about 4 times – perhaps the waitresses could carry a back up notepad & pen rather than relying purely on memory. Understandably it is not an easy task!! It would also have been nice if there were some heaters or if we were offered a seat inside when the weather started to turn & became quite windy and it started to spit rain.
