Sitting wombat is a new cafe located at the Burnt Bridge shopping centre, Croydon. It aims for the low to middle budget market, and its fare includes breakfasts and light lunches. Its interior decor is smart, with a polished concrete floor, an off-white colour scheme, and tiled walls. An extreme blow up of a wombat (naturally) adorns the rear wall. A timber bench offers views through the shopfront facade, and the table settings comprise plain black chairs and simple timber parquetry-style table tops. The menu is not extensive, but has some creative choices, and several vegetarian and vegan options, including a vegan curry, a mushroom and avocado burger and a roast vegetable panini. I had the latter, which was nice, and full of chunky vegetables. The coffee wasn’t bad, perhaps a touch bitter, though served at a good temperature. I found the service to be friendly and casual. So perhaps when you are next passing through Croydon, visit the wombat.
Casual and nice cafe, loved the coffee. Breakfast was perfect size. Would definitely love to come back and enjoy the sunshine and breakfast.
