The lady running this place is absolutely adorable. She’s not only the waitress, she’s the cashier and the chef, and she does it all with ease and with a genuine bubbly personality. My partner found this place online, otherwise we wouldn’t have known that it existed. Located at a quiet strip of shops nearby Eastland, you can smell the chilli and Sichuan peppercorn in the air when you’re outside the restaurant. The floor is a bit sticky and the decor a bit old but that’s the charm of a typical Asian eatery. A simple two pages menu, all written in Chinese, showcase typical Sichuan dishes, most which I am a big fan of. Gluttony took over and we ordered two cold entrees and three mains. Everything was divine, especially the chicken feet and grilled fish in spicy stew. Flavours were outstanding and the ingredients were very fresh, much to our surprise. The eggplants and black pepper crab with rice cakes were oily but understandably so. However, you really need some tea or rice to neutralise the oil if you can’t stand oily food. Some of the mains are a bit dearer in price but the portions more than make up for it. Great for when you’re in a group, otherwise you will end up with lots of leftover. As she works alone, best to call just to make sure the place is open and you can also put in your orders beforehand. I’m definitely going back, and am hoping that it’s not just a fluke that the dishes were up to expectations.
